But, I went to a state park and went swimming in the river with my kids and was told to get out of here by 3 white families using floats on the river. I want to be naive and assure they told me to get out of here because they wanted to use their floats on the entire section of river.
How old are your kids? If they are very young, then clutch your naïveté if you need to do so for your well-being, and think about how you will talk about your park visit with your kids in the future. If they are not very young, then you need to discuss the situation with them — including how they might feel and how they might handle similar situations in the future, especially if and when they are on their own. IMO
I’m sorry that this happened to you.
This is about national parks, not state parks, but this might interest you.
