Subject: What's going on with FCBEscola NOVA?
If you don't like, don't join! This is a simple concept, I know we left our club for Barca because we were tired of dealing with morons that focus on W/L.....Guess what, no one really cares and by the next season it's gone. We aren't building a team to win the world cup and most of these kids will go their separate ways to at some point. For now, let them enjoy learning in a good teaching environment, we are interested in building up some coach's resume so he can apply to be a TD.
I coached Rec for many years for my children and I did what most coaches don't do as "travel coaches", talk to the other coach as peers trying to achieve a common goal which is to create a positive learning environment.

Well then by using your own logic, there aren’t 1-2 people who go out of their way to discredit positive things said about the program? Again, it’s obvious these people have not been down to Evergreen, as they get details wrong about how the program is run, and their “criticisms” are based on conjecture and cinycism. You’re coming across as biased, and like you’re trying way too hard to accommodate the dissidents, rather than taking what EVERYONE posts with a grain of salt. I’ll say it again, at the end of the day, the club, players, and coaches themselves could not care less about the politics or league hierarchies.

Thanks. I’m not trying to group you in with those people. I think you post thoughtful things for the most part and the fact you use a username is admirable. We know who you are and where you stand. I definitely do think there’s a lot of people who are just paranoid and see bogeymen in Barcelona jackets everywhere.
I don't think it's that so much as there are people who have been there and see the good and the bad. There hasn't been a lot of Barca completely sucks postings in this thread or others, but even the smallest negative or even imagined negative is punished here.
It's just that there are some in here who can't accept the bad.
I think people are willing to accept "the bad," but they get upset when certain "negative posts" are not based in reality. For example, there were assertions on this board that Barca is rife with politics just like many other local clubs. This is untrue. The official Barca guidelines specifically state: "Politics have no place in Barça Academy. We want every family to understand that they are equally valued, respected, and trusted as members of our community and not for the access they may have to a parental board, sponsor, coach, etc. Soccer decisions are made by the Technical Staff and administrative decisions by the General Management. This is one reason we limit the ability of parents to engage directly with coaches – to avoid even the sense of favoritism or influence." Does this sound like a club that runs soccer operations based on parents whispering into coaches ears about team placement, playing time, etc?

I don't measure how a club is doing based on reputation, win/loss record, or even ultimately the league they play in. The main advantage I have ever seen to the DA is exposure. It is the highest level of exposure to scouts of every kind in the country.
But there is also more to playing than just "showcasing" yourself for a scout to see. My DC has his own standard of the type of player he wants to be. He was frustrated with the stagnation he felt growing in himself and his teammates. He said everyone kept playing the exact same way, the exact same moves year after year, and he wanted more.
He's so happy to be at FCB where they guide him but also give him some space to try something creative without chewing his butt over it.
So, I can see reasons why if somewhere down the line they make whatever league change they feel necessary to maintain challenge for their top players - be it ECNL or DA or whatever.
However, what I notice most of all is how it's changed him as a player: technically and mentally.

We don't ever try to 'sell' a Club to friends, etc. In fact, we are always doing our own thing. I found a lot of people to be genuinely interested and want to know how we found out about fcb, how it's going, etc. They have never said anything outwardly negative to my face.
When my kids started with FCB last year they took a lot of ribbing at school. They told me that other kids were calling it 'fake Barca'. I also have gotten some very strange comments from other parents in our circle. The thing is, everyone where we live plays for the same Club, even the ones that vehemently complain about the Club year after year. It's like a cult. They never leave. So, if you do your own thing, you are definitely a very small minority and people will question your motives, talk behind your back, etc..
Who cares. My kids certainly don't. They have never been shy about going out and doing their own thing. They were previously on top teams at other Clubs and still have a lot of friends that play there who remain close friends. They still play in the off-season with some of them. Ironically, it seems to be kids on the lower teams that talk the most trash. Their former teammates don't. I haven't quite figured that dynamic out.
Happy people don't care about other people's choices. A lot of trash talking started with FCB's arrival because people didn't know what to make of them. They are new. It should eventually die down as they just become part of the landscape and simply another option for people looking for something different.
Your points are valid and I've experienced much of the same being a Barca family. I disagree that they arrived not knowing anything, they did their research and I can assure you they know the local clubs and leagues. You don't even open a new McDonalds without that research.
I think they understood the demographic and economic landscape but I don't think they understood the soccer political landscape.
