It’s hard to say. Carson currently falls under the Oakton pyramid even though it sits well into Westfields’s boundaries and Crossfield is the only Oakton school that feeds to it. Seeing as every high school pyramid has at least one middle school, it would make sense for Carson to move to the Skyview pyramid and for Franklin to by reassigned to Oakton. However, logic has never been this district’s strong point, and I could see Oakton going without a middle school in their pyramid simply because Franklin is in Lees Corners’ boundaries.
They will have to move Franklin to being the Oakton MS since Carson is going to be Skyview. Meren actually tried to defend not turning Carson into a Skyview feeder because Carson was Oakton's MS at a meeting I attended.
What a joke that it was ever considered Oakton's middle school.
This area of western Fairfax has no cohesive pyramids. Franklin has been a split feeder forever. It used to be just Chantilly/Oakton. And, since Fox Mill went to SL, I'm pretty sure far more went to Westfield than Oakton or South Lakes.
We may get a cohesive pyramid with Skyview/Carson.

Some people think that everyone is able to provide daily transportation for their kids.
Ironically, there was a woman on Nextdoor last fall trying to find transport for her Herndon High assigned kid to go to South Lakes. It was a lengthy post with lots of responses.
Pupil placing is not easy for everyone.
I've been surprised that Meren did not step in sooner. That is why I always thought this would be a problem.
Good luck, Fox Mill!
Meren is asleep at the switch and she will just vote against the final proposal and play the victim while blaming everyone else. It’s pathetic actually.
She has already tossed her hat in the ring for School Board election 2027. She may want to keep her Fox Mill constiuents happy--she also has McNair, some Coates, and some Floris who will be happy.
Her strong supporters for IB South Lakes will vote for her anyway.
Many Crossfield neighborhoods are her constituents, too. Including some of the neighborhoods in Scenario 1.
The Crossfield families want to stay at SLHS, they have posted that on her facebook page. They are fine with the status quo and could careless about being at Oakton or Skyview.
You clearly don't know the boundaries. Anything West of West Ox Rd/Folkstone Rd is in Maren's constituency. Look at the map someone posted. That means Crossfield itself, the neighborhoods across the street from it, Money's Corner, one side of Folkstone, Glenbrooke Woods, Oakton Woods, Franklin Oaks, etc. are ALL under Meren. Oakton Woods and Franklin Oaks in Scenario 1 would be zoned to Skyview.
Pretty sure PP meant Fox Mill Woods since the statement says that the Crossfield famlies want to stay at SLHS.
I've seen that indicated on Meren's Facebook.
Yes, but she was quoting me and I said "Many Crossfield neighborhoods are her constituents, too. Including some of the neighborhoods in Scenario 1." Those neighborhoods are the ones I mentioned - Oakton Woods and Franklin Oaks, not Fox Mill Woods who goes to Hughes/South Lakes and stays there in both scenarios.

Oh well. She'll remember when she's sniveling around trying to get reelected.
I think she was only voted in because a huge portion of Sully is Indian.
And almost all the Indian families zoned to Westfield are being moved to Skyview.
I know nothing about the Indian population at Westfield. I do think that there are a lot of Indian families who live close to Skyview. So, it is not okay for them to have a school that is in their own area? Dixit should keep them bused to Westfield from their area which is isolated from the rest of Westfield?
PP was probably just pointing out that she was pleasing one of her main voting "blocks". For whatever reason, she clearly isn't at all concerned about the Westfield community.

It will be an even swap at Franklin MS, and nobody seems to care that Oakton is overcrowded, so it will just give 50 or so kids from those neighborhoods back.
Yes, and I think they will send the Oak Hill contingent to Carson. So many go there already.
Oak Hill parent here. Yep that’s our hope that all of Oak Hill ends up at Carson and Skyview. The families I know that are walkers to Franklin are fine with the switch to Carson since it’s so close and they would prefer that the kids stay together as a cohort. Otherwise I am guessing the county will be looking to flip them to Lees Corner in the next comprehensive boundary in 5 years to eliminate the new split feeder being created.
Anonymous wrote:As a Crossfield parent being moved to Franklin, I would like to know what other elementary schools feed to Franklin. Is it just Waples and Navy that go to Oakton? What other elementary schools and where do they feed? Chantilly I assume?
