Heard about a TCU to Northwestern pivot as well and a Wisconsin to Northwestern pivot.
Also, ND to Duke. Duke WL is apparently moving quite a bit.
Who are you that you know all these kids? I don't believe one person could know all of this. And if you do, it's really weird that you're this up-to-date. Are you drilling your kid nightly when they walk through the door? "Before you can have a snack I NEED to know all the waitlist rumors from school."
If your kid is at a private school and has other private school friends in town, you hear EVERYTHING. My kids even text me from school when a kid gets a WL call. Yes, they are all that nosy.
No, you really don't. What you're talking about is beyond the norm. I have very social twins who are seniors at 2 different DC privates (probably outing myself here) and I don't relate to this at all. Clearly you've made your kids into admissions bots. they are literally texting you middle of the school day with news in other kids?
"Must report back to mom immediately so she can further disseminate to the rumor mill."
Do you pay your kids for this? π€π
my kids are excited for their friends and share this news. Guess what - Johnny got off the WL for Notre Dame! And then I say, Oh I'm so happy for him!
and that's that. and yes, when it's their best friend who got off the WL from Harvard the night of prom, I got a text!
Sorry if we're happy for kids who are not our own. We celebrate other's successes!

Not accurate. Stanford's AO said class is full, higher than expected yield. They'll keep the waitlist open (just in case) but aren't making offers.

If the counselor/student say yes, the student gets an acceptance in their portal that they are expected to accept. If a school-based counselor or student leads a college to believe they're 100% in and they're not and they don't end up accepting, it could hurt the credibility of the school with that college the following year.
