It was investigated and no charges were filed. Her story sounds fabricated and likely motive was she regretted and was remorseful for cheating on her husband, so she decided it wasn’t consensual. Why would a married woman be walking “arm and arm smiling” with another man and going into his hotel room alone, if not to have consensual sex?

Yes, I noticed there were no criminal charges. It's all coming out again solely for political reasons. I believe she was trying to deflect away from her cheating to save her marriage. Oh and yes she is on video arm and arm smiling, lol. Says it all.

Her story doesn't sound fabricated. Nice try though

Regardless of whether their sex was consensual, he still shouldn't be Secretary of Defense. He went to a conference of Republican women to speak, got blackout drunk (he claims to not remember things too), groped and propositioned multiple women, and ended up having sex with one of them who says it was rape.

You want someone like that - who's so easily compromised - to know our national secrets and be in charge of our armed forces?

Multiple people spoken to that had contact with her all throughout the night, including just before the incident and whomever she shared a room with that spoke to her immediately upon her arrival to the room after the event, said she did not appear drunk, drugged, stuporous, hung over or anything other than normal and coherent. All surveillance videos also indicate she was walking straight and not stumbling.

So he paid her off for nothing? Shouldn't'a bothered with the NDA, I guess. Oopsie. Dumb of him.

Has someone already pointed out he was only one of 12 out of 25k national guard troops who were pulled from protecting Biden during the 2021 violent transition - due to his extremist Christian nationalist beliefs.

Extremism is another must have quality for Trump picks.

This is true. And I find the sexual assault allegations completely believable (as did he since he paid her off to cover it up.) However, the most important thing about this guy is that he has zero qualifications to run an organization of 2.7 MILLION PEOPLE when he’s never been in charge of more a than a couple dozen employees.

Yeah an extremist Christian nationalist/ Fox News host with 1950s era views on women who will be in charge of the most powerful military in the world - what could go wrong?

Yes, not that I care or anything.

Biden had three children, two of which turned out to be drug addicted.

Kamala's husband, Doug Emhoff, slaps women.

Get off the cross. We need the wood.

DP. Thank you. So sick of sanctimonious liberals who pretend to be pious and holier-than-thou, all while peddling their own complete sh!tshow - one that the nation has rejected soundly.

DP. Are you unfamiliar with the military? They actually have rules about all of this stuff - the Secretary of Defense should know about them and follow them, right?

The only time I’ve seen a service member punished for an affair under UCMJ was if the affair partner was another service member’s spouse (makes for some hard feelings at work!) or if the affair partner was also a service member and it was fraternization, or if the affair comprised their duty/mission/security.

A National Gaurd solider having an affair with a civilian is unlikely to be prosecuted, which is exactly why he wasn’t.

They don’t necessarily get punished under UCMJ, but they do get sidelined. And the stigma that comes with making bad decisions follows them professionally. It’s going to require some serious acting skills for the JCS to pretend to respect this guy.

Oh, please. Absolutely no doubt plenty of these people have their own skeletons.
DP

Yeah, there are likely more affair partners of senate members than there are of members themselves, if you totaled them up.

According to many DCUM posters, affairs and babies born to single mothers are no big deal.

For the millionth time, there are actually rules about this in the military. And consequences. I get that only 1% serve, but the fact that the military has different rules than the rest of the population is pretty elementary.

Spare me. Plenty of higher up military officers engage in affairs.

Maybe that's the excuse your father or husband told you, but it's not an excuse to have an affair.

I'm not morally against infidelity. I don't care who people sleep with, as long as I don't have to watch or clean up after, but being a serial cheater shows some really poor impulse control, and probably a lack of empathy for your wives and kids. Do you think it's easy for those children? What kind of man is so weak he'd do that to kids?

Whatever, you say? Men do that all the time?

Can't we find one who doesn't flunk the marshmallow test to be in charge of our military?

PP here. You're preaching to the choir. I'm just saying that I'm not buying that milirary higher ups don't engage in affairs. I don't approve of adultery. Ever.

No one has said that they don’t. We said they get passed over for leadership positions or lose them if people find out.

If you can’t control yourself and live by rules and commitments, why should people trust you and look up to you as a leader when their lives depend on your decisions?

I agree with all you said, except their being passed over or losing their leadership positions.

You personally disagree with the military on this? Or you don’t believe this happens? It’s ended two careers I know of personally. It’s called “conduct unbecoming.”

There are plenty of hard working people in the military. If your personal behavior is a liability, there are others ready and eager to step in your place. Everyone reports to someone and those people have enough to deal with without your personal drama causing more issues for therm.

Exactly this. But Hedgseth’s case is a lot more serious than mere cheating. The SA charge in Monterey Bay involved the police, payouts and an NDA. He would never pass top level security clearance in normal circumstances. Plus the army suspects him of being a white nationalist bc of his tattoos. That’s why he was removed from service in Washington

he can have any tattoos he wants. Got it? That's not important to me.

He's outside the Pentagon. That is important.

Where does Lloyd Austin come from? Raytheon.

I'm all for holding the Pentagon to account for its budget, but where do you think the equipment that makes our military competitive - that is, a force that other countries don't want to risk attacking - comes from? Like it or not, companies like Raytheon are part of that apparatus. Warfare is way beyond storming the beaches a la Normandy in 1944, no matter how much you wish it to be so. If you want to advocate for more rules regarding former high level military officers serving at companies like Raytheon, that's also worthy of discussion, but this whole idea that some low level/mid level National Guard guy is great because he'll "shake things up" is stupid.

I'm unclear how a Fox News talking head is a better affiliation?

+1 thank you. The demonization of defense contractors is understandable but misguided. Working at Raytheon is relevant experience for a secretary of defense. Working at Fox News is not.
