Canada still has restrictions in place due to covid. Just exiting a lockdown now, restaurants are open with 50% capacity. You can go to the movies but you can't buy popcorn there and you have to sit with the mask on the whole time.
Can someone explain to me how does it make sense that you can eat in a restaurant with 50% capacity but at the movies with 50% capacity, sitting apart from other people you cannot eat?
Also, DH was just on a flight to Toronto, packed, not a single empty seat, so AirCanada is not subject to the 50% capacity but cafeteria lady at work had to close her business?
That's your problem. The majority of Canadians (whatever they personally feel about the politicians) support vaccine mandates and the restrictions that are currently in place.
So who are these thousands of people in downtown Ottawa on the weekends?

Also, if you have Canadian friends, you’ll know that these are Canadians of all stripes, not right wingers. They are simply done with all the unscientific restrictions.
If Treaudeau lifted mandates (just like Scandinavia), the trucks would be gone a few hours later. Seems pretty simple.
Don't negotiate with terrorists, unless you want these truckers to give examples to other world groups whose ideologies you don't support. Any worthwhile country should be able to protect its borders.
LOL.
These people are Canadian citizens who want the government to listen to them.
Instead, Trudeau has demeaned them, called them names, and refuses to listen or meet with them.
Either they have a government for the people and of the people, or they don't.
And..... IRT your last comment about borders.....Sure would be nice if the US could protect its southern border. Biden sure has screwed that up.

They can protest all they want, but blocking a road that is paid for by the taxpayers who would like to use it is going beyond protesting. They have no right to shut down public roads. End of story.
Even in Portland and other cities the protests where hyperlocal and only spanned a few blocks. Road blocked? No problem, hang a right, drive a few blocks, hang a left, and you've gone around it. And even then, the roads were typically only blocked for a few hours. These trucker protests are blocking major border crossings, are halting major highways, meaning in some cases a diversion of 20 or 50 miles, and it's already been going on for weeks. This needs to end.

Anonymous wrote:Exactly. And if the vast majority are vaccinated what do they care about mandates? Further, I highly doubt these are regular people, and if they are do they know who is funding them? You can’t just stand up now and say “I’m with these folks on one issue.” Sorry, at this point you are complicit with the GOP.
