Scenario 1: The club remains in the Girls Academy (GA) and continues operating as it currently does, with the boys remaining in ECNL.
Scenario 2: The club stays in GA on the girls’ side, while the boys transition to MLS Next. This scenario would likely create competitive tension with local ECNL Clubs.
Scenario 3: The girls move to ECNL with two teams per age group, while the boys remain in ECNL.
Each of these paths allows the club to maintain a high level of platform placement and competitive positioning.
I don’t see them getting two ECNL spots (Nationals had 2 GA and only got 1 ECNL, Lonestar had 2 GA and only got 1 RL). It seems th GA is rewarding more clubs with 2 spots, and ECNL seems to be going away from that (a couple 2 club programs have lost their second spot).
That maybe a deal breaker for Tophat. It’s a tough debate either way I am sure.
Has a 2nd team ever done anything in a top league OR is it just a spot of hoard talent from nearby competitors?

there is no "deal breaker" for Tophat. Tophat has been begging along with very, very vocal parents trying to get back into ecnl every year.

TH
STA
STA has already announced tryouts for GA. Obviously things can change (see CISC).
TH is not likely due to the history of DA/ECNL.
Genuine question… What is the backstory of DA/ECNL that would prohibit TH from being included but did not keep all the other DA founding clubs out of ECNL? What makes TH so different? You would that it couldn’t be that bad if their boys play ECNL.
Club histories often go back 20+ years and even then people in leadership positions often go back even farther. Ive even heard of coaches not liking other coaches or clubs from their playing days.
Overall its just how things work out when you give arrogant and dumb sports jock people money and power.
In THs case they went to DA which pissed off Christian then the local ECNL clubs banded together not letting TH in. But TH doesnt really care and just continues winning which frustrates those that are against them.
I just wondered what made them so special to be left out. Almost all the other DA defectors were let back in (eventually). I guess their ECNL neighbors have veto rights.

When the 2 leagues merge in 2030
It will never happen; the GA Commissioner's ego is huge. She has an interesting personal agenda, just ask your GA Director they know all about it![]()
Do tell
Ask any male coach or director in the league how she speaks to them, her anti-male in women's sports messaging is clear to everyone. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but youth soccer leagues should be about providing the best for those players, thats it.
I've heard her speak and have spoken to her a few times. I've also seen her interact with a lot of coaches and players and have never seen any of this messaging. I do think we need more female coaches in general and I have heard her say that. If you interpret that to be anti-male I don't know what to tell you.
Everyone can agree that more female coaches are needed, and resources need to be provided to give them the opportunity and development. That is nothing to do with the issue, it is how she speaks to/about male coaches in the league, all of whom are working hard for the players.
Again, we can have different opinions, that is America, and it's great. It is an opinion shared by many, as may be yours.
Im a guy and nothing makes me more angry than grown men yelling at little girls. Its pervasive in competitive soccer. So I get where shes coming from.

I don't buy it. She has hired a number of males and the board has some new males too
No problem, I have no need for you to "buy it". It is the experience of a lot of people, so not a sour grapes from any one individual. People have to "take it" a bit as they can't exactly up and move to another league, but it is real. Go have honest conversations with people and you can find out, if you chose not to, thats your choice
