If IP is getting the opportunity to elevate the boys via ECNL, then I see them and STA as the two
If the rumor turns out to be true.. (BTW I've heard from 2 executive directors at different organizations that Arlington was making the switch to GA and it has not happened)
STA and Indy Premier would not move the meter. Especially with STA being replaced by Football Academy.
oh please. stay and indy would def move the meter. replacing STA with FA you think is positive 1 for 1? my goodness

Important to note what move would have an impact on the optics at a league level and what would only impact regionally. The move from Nationals had a league impact. Given that Indy Premier was just crowned club champion at Champions league, they may have a similar impact as would City SC or Tophat. I’d argue that SSS leaving only impacted the region that they are in, and STA or Lou Fusz would be similar. The tweet specifically said top 10 clubs (presumably top 10 in GA). I don’t think you can say they are top 10 if not a Champions Cup contender.
Agreed.
Indy premier leaving would hurt, but I don’t think they are as big as nationals and SSS leaving.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:The only clubs leaving that would really “hurt” the GA in my opinion would be:
1. Tophat (biggest by far)
2. City SC
3. NEFC
4. Florida United (not for their collective, but they produce a ton of the leagues best individual players)
Other clubs have some asterisks next to them whether it’s strength in some ages but not others, use of a lot of other clubs players to attain success, etc
Clubs who would be solid adds but not dynamic to either league would be ones such as Indy Premier, Michigan Jaguars, Lamorinda, Beadling, Lou Fusz (rumor is they have lost a lot to SLSG @ tryouts). I’d have had CUP in there but they have dropped so far the last two years it’s crazy.
Again you guys hear ECNL and think Girls only, but Boys is what moves the needle. There are more Boys clubs in ECNL than there are Girls and it started as a Girls league. All of the teams in bold have MLSNext, they are not leaving that for ECNL.
Now if ECNL relaxes their rule and is willing to take a Girls 1st team without taking the Boys 1st team, than that's a different discussion.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Is there a "dominant" ECNL boys team that would want MLS Next? Who can we predict gets moved to GA with that decision?
I can give you one example.
SC Surf. They are strong on the boys side and meh on the girls side.
The girls were GA, boys ECNL.
The girls now have ECNL…makes you wonder what discussions were had.

Arlington is trying but MLS has no interest in boys program
