I can give you one example.

SC Surf. They are strong on the boys side and meh on the girls side.

The girls were GA, boys ECNL.
The girls now have ECNL…makes you wonder what discussions were had.

Great point, we need to remember the boys side here is the one to watch. I imagine there will be movement both ways here once a few teams make their decision.

The only clubs leaving that would really “hurt” the GA in my opinion would be:
1. Tophat (biggest by far)
2. City SC
3. NEFC
4. Florida United (not for their collective, but they produce a ton of the leagues best individual players)

Other clubs have some asterisks next to them whether it’s strength in some ages but not others, use of a lot of other clubs players to attain success, etc

Clubs who would be solid adds but not dynamic to either league would be ones such as Indy Premier, Michigan Jaguars, Lamorinda, Beadling, Lou Fusz (rumor is they have lost a lot to SLSG @ tryouts). I’d have had CUP in there but they have dropped so far the last two years it’s crazy.

Arlington is trying but MLS has no interest in boys program

Agreed.

Indy premier leaving would hurt, but I don’t think they are as big as nationals and SSS leaving.

Indy Premier's boys play in MLS Next via a partnership with Hoosier called Hoosier Premier Academy so they do have access to a higher level boys program.

Yeah I mean if rumors true, those are decent choices. It has to be someone that either has a positive or net neutral change for the Boys. Have to keep in mind that ultimately this is about the boys. STA already has Boys in ECNL so no change, Indy Prem Boys play like USYS so positive change. If either was getting MLSN, then neither would be moving. Just like all the other teams that have been mentioned in other posts that already have MLSN are not giving that up to move to ECNL.

I know everyone hears ECNL and thinks Girls, and only the Girls are really discussed on this board, but at the end of the day the Boys is really what steers the ship.
