I don't know what sort of family you grew up in but that doesn't look "maternal" to me

They’re not listening.
At least they won’t admit to that yet. Some are quietly listening, because the above stuff is being said too loudly for Republican women to ignore out of hand or pretend anymore that it’s just Democratic hyperbole.

Matt Birk is doubling down on the position he has outlined in speeches to fellow right-wing loons that women shouldn’t work.
This solves their problem. If women can't work, they need men-- and men don't have to worry about being rejected.
