As long as ACDC keeps its stranglehold on the caucus, then yes, no feds would be able to run for the Dems endorsement. Under Hatch, they can only run as an independent. And there is case law on what it means to stay an independent candidate. You can’t seek the endorsement from a partisan party.

The ACDC needs to get out of this process and then it would open up a lot of new, and I bet qualified, candidates.

Yes. That’s always been the case, because everyone knows it is NOT apolitical. Feds don’t run. When Symone announced, I assumed it was because she changed jobs.

Maybe. Maybe not. This may be why it matters which campaign went to the trouble to force her into the independent box. If it wasn’t Cristina, then my irritation with the ACDC is limited to their premature endorsement. That really ticked me off as a parent with kids in APS. If their hand-picked-barely-connected-to-Arlington candidate also helped boot a parent-candidate from the ticket in order to secure a competitive advantage, well then just screw them. I can only assume the ACDC that worked to get her name out there is helping her with strategy. As for how I know she’s a frontrunner, I can only say anecdotally that I have seen her name pop up from a lot of different corners in a very positive light. I don’t have any polling data or anything like that.

I think Symone should just say who it was. Agree that it's gamesmanship not to. If she doesn't disclose she gets to play victim and claim it was harassment. When maybe it was a totally legit complaint. And we also don't know if there was a actual ruling against her which would make the complaint seem very legit.

If she doesn't disclose, I am going to assume that it was all legit and hold it against Symone. The Hatch act stuff always smelled fishy anyways. She's a lawyer, shouldn't she have known better?

That’s my thinking, and I think the ACDC sided with her over Symone. I like Symone. I don’t like Cristina. But Symone really set herself up here. Anyone who is a Fed can’t ask for an endorsement and call themselves apolitical. This is not an apolitical position. If you get their endorsement, you’re expected to give fundraisers and endorsements to their preferred candidates and such in the future. That’s what you agree to when you run for this “apolitical” position and seek their endorsement. It’s why no Feds ever run. They don’t want to get fired.
