Is that because there are less than a busload of kids who attend there from all the schools in North Arlington combined and that bus gets all of them? Last year's transfer report only showed 17 from north of 50.
Campbell didn't used to be open to the whole county. Technically, yes; but it was filled with the preferred attendance area and there wasn't room for transfers from north arlington. Now it is a countywide option program; so perhaps the numbers will begin to change - and the transportation will change as needed.
People should also keep in mind that bell times can be changed. APS is looking at bell times; so there may be some schedule changes in the pipeline.
When we looked at it before it opened to the whole county parents had to provide transportation if you weren’t in the area.

Claremont isn't getting 50% either.
Disregard. I wasn’t sure but that popped out at me.

Sorry. That doesn’t cut it. Kids in my neighborhood get on the bus at 6:50 for immersion. Location matters. I know few people who would stick to that schedule for immersion.
What is the start time?
Key starts at 9. I’m guessing she is talking about Gunston middle school immersion, which starts at 7:50, doors open at 7:30.
DP. That makes more sense, although it would be pretty disingenuous on pp’s part to drop that into a discussion of ES boundaries without clarification, making it seem like this is happening to elementary students.
I welcome PP to clarify, but no elem starts before 8 (b/c middle school still using buses), so I can’t imagine any scenario where an elementary student is on the bus for 70-130 minutes!
I prefer to just assume PP is misinformed rather than misleading.

NP. I've got a rising K-er for 2020. I want immersion. Key to ATS would be ok. Key to Carlin Springs would be really hard, commute-wise. I realize my commute is irrelevant to county needs, but it would be a nightmare for many current and rising Key parents to have to commute to the far western corner of the county when the current Key lottery boundary was drawn for the eastern part! The western immersion ppl already go to Claremont! So yes, location matters when you are advocating sending half the county as far away from current boundaries as is possible.
I thought they did away with the Key/Claremont geographical distinction and both were now countywide option programs.

Yes. Nothing is changing next year. Lots of uncertainty for incoming K kids because they aren't committing to deciding anything until fall 2020.
How about lots of uncertainty for everyone at Key or thinking about applying for Key? And lots of changes coming for lots of other communities too.
If your kid wants to do immersion, do immersion. The location might change, but the program will be the same.
Everyone will end up at a good school so don't sweat it. It really will all be fine in the end.
