Ignorant and incoherent.

It says something about a league when ECNL’s best selling point is the opportunity to not actually play in the league.
You sound like a parent of a young player. You dont know what you're taking about.
Ecnl is not structured the same way it was 3 or 4 years ago.
The boys DA is a failed system. No need to repeat it. Enjoy
You actually sound like a parent who is new to ECNL. In no way before DA were ECNL coaches pumping HS school soccer. In fact it was easier to threaten kids that their spot will be gone because with ECNL being the only game in town many kids were just waiting in the wings.
But now that there is competition ECNL is pumping the nostalgia card of HS soccer. Exactly what does that say about their league when they have to push concession stands and pregame music of something they are not even involved with?
Why doesn’t ECNL just say “ECNL, pay for10 months but train for 6 months”
My kid played in both. Back when ECNL and HS played concurrently. That's doesnt happen now. Do you understand that? Splitting time between HS and ECNL was frowned upon because of overload...hence the change.
In general, the highest level club soccer is better than the highest level high school soccer. However, I bet three things:
Your childs 04 team (ECNL or DA), will not beat her high school team.
Your childs 03 tean (ECNl or DA) will be on par with her club team
Your childs 02 team (ECNL or DA) will be better than her high school team
On average
For the 04 and 03 ECNL kids, HS is a challenge. Make no mistake about it. The quality may not be as good, but the challenges are....and that my friend is player development...mentally and physically.

So your telling me that 20 league games, just league games, not showcases, but league games in the the fall season is not overload? Because that is how they "balanced" the schedule to accommodate HS Soccer. They just overloaded the fall. Add in the number of fall ECNL showcases and that is overload.
what DA team is playing 20 league games from Sept to December? Its practically MAY and most DA teams are at 18 games played now. Many are at only 15 or so so far.
Correct, ECNL have teams who have played 20 league games in the fall. But that isn't overload, it is simply adjusting for HS School soccer so that they can play 19 games in 3 months. So, a perfectly healthy schedule overall.
Another asinine post. 20 league games in the fall isn't overload? Plus showcases and tournaments? Please continue to enlighten us caveman.

Our kids are not saving American soccer. You are not saving American soccer.
Repeat after me: not special
Not special is true. But ACLs, concussions and broken limbs are all part of HS soccer at a much higher rate than top-level travel soccer. Why? Because HS soccer is absolutely terrible in terms of the game play with terrible coaching (very few exceptions) and terrible refereeing. It is rugby with a soccer ball. So even those not destined for the national team but actually enjoy playing the sport without it becoming rugby get a huge benefit from skipping HS soccer altogether.
And the reality is many of the injuries are due to the heavy workload of such a short and intense schedule with little to no recovery time built in. Add to that the physical size difference across 4 age groups combined and you have a recipe for significant injury at a higher rate than club alone. If you combine HS soccer on the heels of a very packed fall ECNL schedule it has many red flags to consider especially for freshmen and sophomores. And possibly the only thing worse for a freshman or sophomore than playing and getting worn down is not playing at all and giving up quality club practices just to run sprints at soccer practice because the coach is from the 70’s

New tactic - Push too many games as the ECNL issue. Too much soccer! No wait, since their kids can't get enough and want 11 months of soccer it's not too much soccer. But games are bad. Training is good but games are bad.
What is the value of two ECNL spring showcases when your primary training environment is a HS team and not the actual ECNL team playing in the showcase?
And what is the value of the ECNL training environment during the spring when over a 1/3 of the players are never at practice because they are at High School?
Just tell me the upside? Please it has to be more than a concession stand with popcorn and pregame music.

You are really asking why some teenagers see upside in playing for their HS? Wow
Ok, so I'll also ask my teen what the upside of driving a car full of loaded kids is? Or whats the upside of going out till 1am on a school night. Certainly asking the HS kid if they understand the upside of 30 games in 3 months with one day a week off during that time frame is the right course of action. In general it is pretty solid advice to just let teenagers make all of their decisions without guidance.
Right - because playing with your friends, classmates and potentially being a hero for your school and community is the same as dangerous driving and late partying.
You win the DA parent of the year award. You should home school little Mia through HS so you can do Rondos in the backyard at lunchtime. LMAO
Ohhh High School "Hero"!
That is the best you've got? Still looking back, trying to recapture glory?
Dude are you serious? LMAO. No way you have a high school kid. You just don't get it.
Oh I get it, I just don't subscribe to the notion that HS Soccer is the peak of anything and that should be awarded any significant social status because it is not good soccer. HS soccer does not represent the best that the sport can offer. That for most club players not being able to make varsity would be considered more of an embarrassment than making varsity is considered an accomplishment.
Nobody goes to the games. The games are hack fests. The style is awful. The players are average. In short I guess if you play in ECNL HS soccer might just be the pinnacle.
The fake bravado is telling
What is telling is that you have to defend HS Soccer in order to promote ECNL.
If your player is only interested in playing a season or two, junior and senior years due to actual impact and role, then where is the value in paying ECNL money for a 6 month league? If your value of HS soccer is so high you certainly don't need ECNL to get onto Varsity.
You are paying a lot of money to essentially have your HS soccer coach prepare your DD for two spring college showcases.
WTF are you paying money for? The national team? You are really starting to sound like a club representative.
