Vote count doesn’t matter - it only got to that point bc Dems wouldn’t sure to listen to any deal not protecting the dreamers. If all 5 Rs had voted for the CR, show me where we had 9 dems in favor.

The DACA deadline is long past. Every day people are falling out of DACA status right now. It’s a mess.


My American kid cannot get MA in state tuition despite the fact that we’ve paid taxes in MA for 15 years. DACA kids from all over the country can.

These are people not “illegals”. Good people. Med students. College students. High school students. A contributing workforce. Sons, daughters, extended family members. Without criminal records. As the above linked poll indicated, 80+% Americans want them here. Sorry if the numbers aren’t in your favor, but you have to face reality. Using them as a pawn in budget negotiations is immoral. Mexico is paying for the wall anyway. Majorities in both parties want to protect the Dreamers, so let’s do it.


Right to hear liberals tell it EVERY dreamer is a hard working med student or just got acceptance to Harvard law or West Point and of course every single one was high school valedictorian. Give me a break.

They are NOT Americans but they are culturally Americans. I feel bad for them and think something should be done to help them but don’t think we should shut down the government for them.

Not as much as they've.cost. We can't blame this kids because they parents broke the law, but let's not make it that they have been a net positive. The costs to the public schools alone has been outrageous.


On c’mon. The DACA kids a huge boon to the economy. Even conservative economists say so.

One fifth of them are high school dropouts, and only a fraction have graduated from college. On balance, we've paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to educate them through high school (for those who completed) and they haven't come anywhere near to repaying that through taxes. They have been a net cost, and a big one.
