1/3 funny, 2/3 tragically sad because it's true.

It's not Josh's loss of privacy that was concerning to me. It was the loss of privacy for the very young victims. Maybe you've never been sexually assaulted, but I can assure you seeing it on the national news is not a step towards healing. I do not believe it was made public out of concern for the safety of others.
You're right but do not think, for one second that you will get anywhere with pp,or many of the other people posting here. They don't have the ability to be rational in this conversation. Only thing that matters to them is spreading hate.

Because he was a child himself when he did this. He wasn't 40 he was 15. Kids make mistakes
A 15 year old knows to not touch his sisters genitals. This was not a mistake, he didnt fall into her gentials.

Anonymous wrote:Some of you people are so incredibly extreme that it is scary. You are all over this story and this family with intense hatred and anger, but you claim to not watch the show, not like the family, disagree with their views, disagree with their actions, and yet you have such strong opinions and feelings towards them. What is up with that, I mean really. It's not healthy. Why do you care so much about this? There must be some pretty intense negativity in your lives to be posting some of the crazy stuff I'm reading here.
The reason I'm reading and responding is because I liked the duggars. I watched the show when I had cable, ever since the first special aired years ago. I feel awful for the family and what they must be going through right now. Every single one of them. Even josh. I just can't imagine hearing that something horrific happened to a family and going online and bashing them on an online forum, and especially not to the extent that many of you are doing. It doesn't matter how I felt about the family, if I disagreed with everything about them. It would make me uncomfortable and I'd have to consider what issues in my life would drive me to do such a thing. You talk about the family being hateful (which I just do not get, at all), but what about what you are doing? Is that not hypocritical ( which is another word some of you have been using to describe the duggars)? I can imagine that if this scanadal came to light about a family that you all were fond of, and people were rushing to judgment on here, you'd be posting things like "we don't have all the details, this might not be true, that might not be true, show the family some empathy, they are human and make mistakes, etc". And yet none of the people who support the duggars are denying that something terrible happened, just that it is a bad idea to get so excited about bashing them during this time. I can't imagine being so smug about a family's traumatic secrets being revealed on the news and celebrity gossip tabloids. It's really sad

So if this all happened within statute of limitations and a child reported this or a parent became aware, what happens?
Most likely some form of juvenile detention program.
Juvenile sex abuse and assault is still sex abuse and assault, and are still serious crimes punishable through juvenile court systems.

I wonder if the parents/adults that knew about it & don't report it can be held criminally responsible. The statue of limitations, somewhere mentioned as three years, I wonder if that would apply to adults.
I suppose the cop they talked to about it would have had a legal responsibility to report, but he probably got off on the stories of what happened since he was into child porn.
Apparently parents are not mandatory reporters, at least in Arkansas. So I don't think the parents can be held criminally responsible. Entirely screwed up.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:1. I am so sorry for the girls. I would be mortified to have this go public if I were one of the girls who was molested. She will never be able to forget this now, and for the rest of her life, this will be publicly attached to her name.
2. I wonder how much more common this kind of thing is in very, very large families? The bond between parent-child and child-sibling in such a dynamic must be different than it would be in a smaller family...
1. The Duggar children do not have a TV, and their internet access is extremely limited. They may not even know about this, the younger kids.
2. Forcibly fondling preschoolers isn't common anywhere. Similar aged sisters, maybe. Baby sisters? No.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Who cares what my or anyone else's political leanings are? That is totally irrelevant. You are speaking like you know the family personally, and that they've had a string of unfortunate luck. Not so. They are public figures by choice, and they carefully and deliberately covered up numerous sexual assaults perpetrated by their son on their young daughters, and other young girl(s). They are hypocrites (" a person who claims or pretends to have certain beliefs about what is right but who behaves in a way that disagrees with those beliefs" http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/hypocrite) because they prohibit sexual contact before marriage in their family, yet tolerated criminal sexual misconduct within their family, in their own home.
So your being fond of them, or feeling sorry for them, or agreeing with them has no relevance to the matter at hand. Their son is a child molester, and the parents failed to protect the daughters and continued to promote and protect the Duggar brand. That is sick.
I disagree. My opinion is just as relevant as anyone else's. You just disagree with it, and I probably disagree with you, but I'm not telling you that your opinions are less important than mine or anyone else's.
My only opinion is that the actions of the Duggar family are sick. But let's be clear, everything else stated is fact, not opinion, as evidenced by the Duggar's own words, the police report, the parents' statements to the media and the police, and Josh Duggar's admission. You are free to hold any opinion you wish on these facts.
