I went to an event today and many men and women in their 40s and 50s were in attendance. Most of the men wore polo shirts tucked in under their pot bellies and shorts.

Nearly all the women wore capri pants. Capri pants do nothing for you. If you are short, you don't look good in capri pants. If you are fat, you don't look good in capri pants. If you are tall, you don't look good in capri pants. If you are thin, you don't look good in capri pants. No matter the body type or age, capri pants are not flattering.

I say this lovingly. Wear anything else- anything! Shorts (long shorts, if you want to; even short shorts look better than capris), a skirt, pants, anything but capri pants. They make everyone look stumpy and shapeless. No one looks good in them.


You went to an event during a pandemic?

What was it? Did you wear a mask?

Like the swallows returning to Capistrano....

I am wearing baggy capris and a fitted T as a write this, cuddled on my couch. They are the kind meant for the beach where they roll down to full length or can roll up to mid calf with a little button that holds them rolled up.

I still think they are better than the ripped up jeans they keep trying to sell us?

What a treat to have this thread back!

I first discovered it a couple of years ago when I read the entire thread (as it stood at the time) through a mind numbing conference call and had to put myself on mute so no one could hear me laughing.

I loved the revival of that sadly little used word "stumpy," which is what capris make you look like according to one poster.

Working in the financial field and having made it through the great recession, I especially enjoyed the post that went something like "I am pretty sure the financial crisis was caused by middle-aged women wearing capris and Tory Burch sandals."

I gifted my capris to the Goodwill with my DD's full approval.

Capris are 100% a horrible invention for people who want to not care at ALL what they are wearing. Switching out sweaters and t shirts mixed with capris does not an outfit make!

I’m fine if you want to do that, but just don’t pretend it looks good! Or move to Florida!

I don't wear capris because I am 5 ft tall and I don't like them. I am never noticing if others have them on as I don't care what other people wear.
