If it really is just very scummy and attracts a lot of mosquitoes, then why bother especially with climate change. Turn it into something else. Not worth the money and trouble. Make it a monument to the Constitution and include a large replica of the Bill of Rights (everything this administration is against).

It was fine before. It was absurd that Trump made a huge deal out of it.

It wasn't fine. It has always leaked massively and can't be filtered and cleaned nearly enough due to its stagnant nature, which is the whole idea behind the design as a mirror. It's the concept that's unworkable in practice. You want running water, otherwise of course it's going to be gross.

This basin should just be scrapped and turned into something else. It's been costing the taxpayer way too much money over the years.

But I agree that Trump directed a giant spotlight on the problem. That's hilarious!

This is true. Needs to be agitated, i.e. running and circulating

I've lived in DC for nearly 20 years and have visited the Reflecting Pool hundreds of times. It wasn't that damn gross. Trump is just a moron.

Agree been here since college....never have seen the city in such disarray. He is ruining it...kinda like he hates America.

He has zero respect or understanding of American history. I doubt he could pass the test people applying to be citizens have to take. He shows contempt on a daily basis for what makes America America.

Yep, I lived here as a kid then moved here after college and have been here for almost 20 years. I love taking my kids down for Folklife every summer. I've never seen the Mall such a mess.

Burgum on the reflecting pool: "When people are attacking it, it's like an attack on our country. These are our most sacred monuments."

they are setting this lie up to deport and jail people.

So during the height of tourist season they're not letting people enjoy the mall. Nuts.

How are they going to keep people away on the 4th? Mall is usually packed.

The only people welcome are MAGA who want to attend Trump's rally. It's reserved for them. And the audience for the fireworks show is the records book, not actual people.

It's just infuriating our public traditions and spaces are being taken away.

Stop vandalizing them because you don’t like who’s president.

Like the guy who drove his motorcade over it?

That's the only real evidence of vandalism right there. The rest of it is just lies to assuage Trump's hurt feelings about his ongoing failures.

Members of Congress have gone to the Reflecting Pool and asked National Park Service to show them evidence of the "knife cut slit" et cetera. NPS staff couldn't, because there's no such thing.

Trump is just lying to cover his failure and incompetence.
