This is a recurring pattern we’ve seen many times in MCPS. Here’s the problem. MCPS needs to actually Do something when bullying is reported.

With that many kids, that seems very unsafe to not have some type of security system in place that includes cameras in the hallways. How many security guards does the school have? Are they just at a desk or walking the halls? Curious if they have a presence in the building as normally the kids know them and feel
Comfortable going to them.
Security guards LOL
The one officer assigned to the school was MIA.
They said they were at Lakewood Elementary they were not. They lied.
Security cameras no.
Wrong. High schools absolutely have cameras, upwards of 50 or more. Everywhere except locker rooms and bathrooms.
But the cameras only are used to bust kids vaping

we will never know.
SROs can build relationships with troubled kids. Who knows what could've been if there was a strong SRO in the school.
Some SROs may build positive relationships with troubled kids.
More likely, the SROs will criminalize behavior that should be dealt with as in-school discipline and further fill the school to prison pipeline. SROs don't stop violence.

This is very interesting.
Very concerning why both of these kids were moved by MCPS to Wootton out of their home districts.
That's not what the video said. It said she was trying to move him OUT of Wootton.

Yes there are LOTS of cameras however I would venture to guess they are not monitored in real time 24/7
They’re looking at AI to monitor those cameras and detect weapons. Those systems are unreliable and can lead to false positives, further traumatizing kids. There was a situation last year in Baltimore where such system flagged a bag of chips as a gun and the kid ended up in handcuffs at gun point.
My HS is piloting a new AI program that will scan hallway and stairwell chokepoints and determine if there is an unusual high level of activity and then make alerts based on that.
Umm so how does that work when the hallways are crammed with back to back students between classes?

If the Lakewood principal and staff all say he was not, this is a huge accountability issue.
What in the world is going on?
This is why SRO's do not work.
None of these types of people are effective.
This guy was most likely at Falls Grove getting food or somewhere else off campus running errands or doing something else instead of his job.
Yeah....IF he indeed was not at Lakewood Elementary, the police are definitely covering up for this guy relaxing while on the job.
