I would avoid any travel team where the coach or director has a kid in your daughter's age group. It just seems like a recipe for drama. In rec, it's unavoidable, but there's no reason to put up with it in club.
Parent coaches are the norm, whether M&D, Hero's, MDU, BLC, Yellow Jackets, its the reality.
Technically, BLC coach that’s at Holton is not a parent, correct? YJ also doesn’t have parent coaches.
Isn’t the BLC/Holton coach the goalie’s mom?

Starting to think more teams should do this. If a club isn’t meeting expectations, move to one that will. Clubs cut players, why can’t teams cut clubs?

It happens, but it's also avoidable. I'd rather have a college-age or recent grad as a coach than a parent who is more experienced. Too much drama.
I’m sure there are parent coaches who do a fine job but you rarely escape feelings that they favor their own kid, and if their own isn’t the best there’s no chance she gets cut

Read the copious amount of analysis on the 2028 thread. That age group is on par with previous age groups in ranking in talent. Love 30 parents flexing their DDs already.
Definitely not going to go through 200+ pages of bickering about a lax year where I don’t have a kid, but I’ll try to believe you. I’m sure the 2028s are the very best

The amount of sh*t posting for a lax year is inversely proportional to the strength of the teams that year. The 2028s are high drama and low skill, we don’t hear much from the 2029s because they have several great local teams. Feels like the 2030s will fall in the middle.

Yeah, spending $100 per head on that tryout is just filling their budget
Both M&D and hero’s have already worked out who they are adding, top players from other teams got a call from them and accepted a while ago. Don’t waste your money
Sigh... there might be truth in this. Top end talent doesn't just show up at tryouts for elite teams. There's probably been conversations held in private.
