Because that's not what happened. It happened because Donald Trump peddled a huge lie and convinced a bunch of moronic right wing thugs that the election was stolen from him and that they needed to take it back for him.
That's it. That's the whole story. Own up to it.

There's no need to watch 40,000 hours of video. We've all already seen more than enough footage to see how damning it is for the violent J6 seditionists. No amount of additional footage will make it go away. We will never forget and we will never forgive.
Yeah. Thanks to the videos released by McCarthy, we have seen that the J6 unselect committee was incredibly biased and one-sided in their effort to paint a picture that was not accurate.
We all suspected this prior to the hearings, but these videos have confirmed it.
Someone should go to jail for not allowing the defense of many of these individuals to have access to evidence prior to their pleas/trials.
Should it be Pelosi? Someone in the DOJ?
Again, we've all already seen more than enough footage to see how damning it is for the violent J6 seditionists. No amount of additional footage, and no amount of your whining and complaining and attempting to deflect will make it all go away.
No we haven’t. I say, release all the tapes. Let’s examine the evidence. Surely, one can see with the qanon shamon that the police were literally guiding him through the capitol building and never once attempting to slow him down or detain. Why aren’t more people from the left scratching their heads with this new information is concerning. Oh, I get it; he’s on the wrong team. 👍
It’s because none of that changes the fact that he committed felonies on video.
So why was this guy out the next day?

Sullivan? Where is he now?
That Sullivan dude is a weird character. The right was quick to say he was some big "BLM and Antifa" leader yet he never led anything and when he did show up at a BLM rally he immediately got thrown out and banned for life because he tried getting them arrested. As for "Antifa" he has no known ties. His father is a long time republican Military officer and his brother was a recruiter for the Proud Boys. If anything, Sulllivan was a provocateur operating entirely on his own.
His arrest and charges in Utah say you are very wrong about him. Please, keep defending him. Threatening to kill a woman in a car an kicking a dent in it,

Townhall? Really? Far right wing fake news propaganda site.
Sullivan was banned for life from BLM, was thoroughly denounced by them, was widely referred to as an "agent provocateur" by left-wing activists.
And that was long before J6 even happened.

Gosh, it’s almost like people who conspired, brought weapons and/or made credible threats were treated more harshly by our justice system. If only we had a code that spelled out what exactly was a crime, and laid out ranges for the fines and jail time. It’s just shocking.
This guy has a knife with him.
Lots of J6 protesters had knives and other weapons on them. Some also had encrypted radios, zip ties, assault plans made weeks in advance, and were coordinating as designated breach teams. Amazing how the right wing keeps glossing over all of that - even as the Oathkeepers and Proud Boys trials are ongoing with more and more of those kinds of details coming out.
And as more of the video comes out, we find the details are not quite so.
Which videos indicate that there were no rioters with encrypted radios, zip ties, assault plans made weeks in advance, and were coordinating as designated breach teams?

I don’t see any weapons charges. He said on video he had one, but later said he didn’t have one, and just said that to get to the front. So, without evidence, he is not going to be charged.
Amazing how his word is just taken as fact!
Right, because of the presumption of innocence. If there is conflicting information, and both things are equally plausible or believable, we opt for the one that assumes innocence. This is basic constitutional rights. You can believe whatever you’d like, but we need evidence to use in court. Conflicting statements are not good evidence. The other defendants with weapon charges had evidence tying the weapons to them.

Totally fine with locking him up along with the rest of the rioters.
+1000. Not sure what the far right hopes to gain with "whaddabout Sullivan" - we don't care about Sullivan, he isn't one of ours, we're fine with Sullivan being locked up with the rest of the J6 jackasses.
Don’t care what anyone thinks here. I’m looking for answers as to why he was treated differently by the DOJ and J6
Only about two dozen Jan. 6 defendants are currently detained pretrial. An earlier analysis suggested 13 percent were being detained, which is waaaay lower than in general when it comes to pre-trial detention (75 percent). There are more than 950 total Jan. 6 defendants.
So this Utah guy you are fixated on is getting typical treatment.

Gosh, it’s almost like people who conspired, brought weapons and/or made credible threats were treated more harshly by our justice system. If only we had a code that spelled out what exactly was a crime, and laid out ranges for the fines and jail time. It’s just shocking.
This guy has a knife with him.
I don’t see any weapons charges. He said on video he had one, but later said he didn’t have one, and just said that to get to the front. So, without evidence, he is not going to be charged.

That "team" included, no doubt, the ABC producer who worked on the J6 docu-drama (hearings).

Forgot to add a quote:
#But unlike some 80 other individuals who have been imprisoned for up to 300 days for storming the Capitol, Sullivan has been allowed to go home to Utah while awaiting a trial date on eight criminal counts. One of the protesters who has been in jail the longest, Kenneth Harrelson, is accused of pushing into the Capitol behind a mob. He stayed inside 18 minutes, walking around and taking photographs, and has not been accused of any violence in court documents reviewed by the Washington Examiner.
In contrast, Sullivan carried a knife into the Capitol and offered to use it, broke a window, and ordered officers to leave their posts where he would soon film Babbitt getting shot.”
