They’re not condemning it because they agree with it. This is the GOP.
I don't think they agree with it - I think the problem is that they have the slimmest majority in the house and if they eject ol Catch Me If You Can here it's likely he'll be replaced with a Dem.
This isn't difficult to understand. They can't win if they play fair and with morals, so they embrace anyone who can help them keep power, even people who cheat or commit crimes, or mentally ill people who lie more than they tell the truth. Anyone standing by quietly is comfortable enough to accept what's happening. They're not hostages, they're participants. And now he's being rewarded with committee assignments. That's not just accepting him, that's embracing him, confirming that he's part of the family.
I was really hoping that as Trump faded from the scene that the party would start to try to find its way back to some semblance of reality. I really dislike much of what Democrats are selling and would love to have an alternative. But it seems like the Republicans are too far gone. They've made me into a Democratic voter even though I don't really like Democrats.
Asking sincerely...have you ever thought of trying to personally shape Republican Party policy to more closely match your priorities/concerns by participating in local or state politics, writing letters to your representatives at all levels, participating in groups that work to influence policy, etc? The country would benefit greatly from two parties tethered to reality, not just one. I think many of those that complain or opine here regularly would be better served by trying to actually change the aspects of our parties we don't like. And, yes, I have done some of things that I mentioned.

Was just coming here to post this. It’s bad enough all the lies, and the theft of his roommate’s clothes, including a scarf he wore to a stop the steal rally (you can't make this stuff up!). But stealing from a disabled vet and causing his service dog to die because of it!!! You republicans sure know how to pick them.
