Agree. Some zips have more than one high school and some have none at all. I think there are a lot that apply to this.
If you don't live in the same zip code as a high school, then you would have the current status quo where you (hopefully) go to the nearest high school, but you are at risk of being rezoned every 5 years.
FCPS needs to lock in the closest neighborhoods to each high school if we are going to go through this 2 year process every 5 years. The zip code is an obvious non partial, concrete method to establish a compact area associated with each high school that will not be rezoned.

It is not pushing for stability if someone advocates for their kids to change MS and HS. I suspect it is a handful of ES parents in Emerald Chase trying to “get theirs.”
Chantilly is a non starter for Emerald Chase. I haven't seen it mentioned here but Thru also took a chunk already zoned to Chantilly near the Wegmans and moved them to Westfield. I don't believe it was in the original slides. This is in addition to a couple other areas that were moved out in the original slides.

In addition to zip codes, I would also add in natural barriers like highways, parks and commercial areas should be considered too, with a 3 mile radius from each high school protected from rezoning.
The flaw is in the fundamental changes made to policy 1830. It’s really a two step process at this point: 1) prevent terrible, disruptive moves proposed this round, 2) replace the current SB the next election cycle.
The new slate of candidates will run on tearing up 1830.8 and returning to a case-by-case, emergency only standard.
No more politics, either. I will never vote for someone for SB who is endorsed by either local branch of the two big parties. They made this mess for us. It’s time to move on.

I am aware it says that but not every parent feels that way. There wasn’t any sort of community vote about what to put on the website if that’s what you are thinking.

22046 is not the same zip code as Falls Church HS 22042.
Your 22046 house could still be zoned for Falls Church 22042, but they could also be zoned away from the 22042 located high school, while someone actually living in 22042 would have the stability of always being zoned for the high school located in their same zip code.
It makes perfect sense if you just look at a map, and if you value stability for kids.

The zip codes are fairly compact, and would form a fairly dense compact frozen boundary around each high school.
Look at a map.
The high school boundaries in most areas are very convoluted.
The zip code boundaries are not. They are dense and compact

I suggested that if the neighborhood shares a zip code with the high school, they should not be able to be rezoned from the high school.
I believe your post is well-intended, but you appear to have run afoul of stage 2 of the Emerald Chase opportunity play:
Stage 1: flood other feedback sessions with upgrade requests.
Stage 2: weaponize Langley against anyone who opposes the opportunity play by framing their plight as similar to the Herndon-addressed, Langley-zoned homes (it is not evenly close to being the same thing)
