I have no idea where Emerald Chase is but that community’s ability to game the system to get their responses to dominate the system is next level.

Yes, they are.

Tonight's meeting was for a pyramid on the other side of the county, and the Emerald Crest flooded the system with hundreds of upvotes so their posts dominated the feedback.

They had more upvotes than affected families.

Did they use bots?

One of the elementary schools, I think one of the Greenbrier, tried this on the first round of meetings, and FCPS told them to stop so other pyramids could give feedback. Greenbrier actually listened, and were very respectful of the other schools.

But the South Lakes Emerald neighborhood is just taking over.

It is really, really rude to do this to the other parts of the county that want to make their voices heard.

After seeing how they took over the meeting tonight at Robinson through some sort of bot or out of state families and friends giving feedback from a facebook request, I almost hope that Emerald neighborhood gets rezoned to where they don't want to go.

They were rude and selfish.

DP. This is exactly how I feel about certain posters on this thread who were aggressively insisting that certain neighborhoods should be moved. I've always advocated for no one's boundary to be changed, but I sincerely hope the people I'm talking about found themselves among those moved. Karma, etc.

No one has been moved at this point, but feel free to pat yourself on the back even harder.

It worked for Langley and the FairFACTS families. Don't hate on Emerald Chase cause you can't play the game.

You guys were rude, ignorant and selfish.

And you took away the voice of people in that pyramid.

The Langley and Fairfacts did not do what you did to take away the voice of other schools in the district. In fact, the Fairfacts and Langley folks were generous and helpful to other neighborhoods across the county to help them organize to get their voices heard.

The Emerald Crest families were behaving like selfish jerks.

It's EMERALD CHASE, sad West Springfield lady. Sorry you don't understand how to organize.

How would you feel if all of the rest of the area decides to organize to flood the rest of the meetings with posts saying that rezoning Emerald Chase to Westfield is the best rezoning choice FCPS could make?

If you look at their HOA page, you can see they are organizing to attend the Chantilly meeting - highly recommend organizing people from other regions to flood them out there.

FYI, this neighborhood is trying to game the system. Please look at the instructions they sent to their entire HOA here: https://www.emeraldchase.org/p/BOUNDARY-REVIEW

https://www.emeraldchase.org/p/BOUNDARY-REVIEW

You can follow their own instructions on the tool and put a happy face in instead and say you're thrilled about moving to South Lakes!

+1
Sounds like that would be absolutely fair to do considering the way this group monopolized a meeting that wasn't even about their area.

They gave us advice and insight. They quickly caught us up on the rezoning history. They even offered to help us set up community meetings to get information out.

They were nothing but generous, even though they could have just as easily ignored us, as our issues are not their issues.

DP. I think now they will. Anyone can go to any meeting online and only the loudest will get their way. Langley proved that. Next meeting will be interesting, I guess.

DP. Once again: Langley only spoke up about the area within ITS boundaries. It never tried hijacking meetings about OTHER SCHOOLS and their boundaries. You seem very confused.

100% agree.

Anonymous wrote:As a former Westfield grad with a decent amount of friends from the 20171 split feeder hell area… I don’t blame these families for advocating. Had a friend whose small neighborhood was split Westfield/South Lakes/Oakton

They essentially had no friends going into high school out of Carson MS

No one is faulting them for advocating.

The issue is that they are taking over the online feedback for other regions on the other side of the county, depriving those families of their opportunity to have their concerns and feedback heard.

No one would blink an eye if they were attending their own Region meeting and doing this, or going in person to a neighboring Region.

But to go online to a Region meeting for schools on the opposite end of the county, and taking over that meeting so the only feedback elevated is their neighborhood is a whole different thing.

The feedback opportunities are limited. It is so rude of them to take away the feedback opportunities from families on the other side of the county.

Leave the high schools alone. Take care of Coates. I'm not familiar with Parklawn situation. Maybe, fix it, too.

Done.

I’ll be sending this to Seema Dixit. Totally ridiculous when other areas that are potentially being moved are smaller. We can’t compete with the larger numbers, and our neighborhood won’t come out in full force because we are split across schools as it is. Screw them.

Take some screen shots now.

That was not in any of the slides that were presented. I know that a lot of people have posted on this board about how that neighborhood had a lot of drama when they were originally shifted from Oakton to South Lakes, and this change does make a lot of sense. I know that a lot of Crossfield families were very worried, so this is a relief. We want to stay in an AP school.

Crossfield just finished a renovation and is projected at 83% capacity on the map tool. They really should staff it as an AAP Level 4 now so that their kids don't have to go to Navy for AAP, and then the Waples kids could go there or to Navy for AAP instead of going out of pyramid all the way to Hunters Woods. Wish Waples could have their own AAP but they don't have the room.
I know the school board never mentioned AAP or IB/AP as part of this review - probably to avoid answering all the people who don't want to move and would prefer to end pupil placements. They really should. There are many "split feeders" not addressed because of where kids have to go for AAP.

I really don't understand why they are sending the Navy island in Franklin Farm to Oak Hill instead of Crossfield with the rest of Franklin Farm on that side of the parkway. It makes no sense at all.

It’s because Oak Hill has an AAP center like Navy has an AAP center. It’s more equitable.

And those AAP centers need to be a thing of the past. I hope they address that at some point. AAP centers are the very definition of inequity at this point.
