This makes me think that I need to take stock of my own Jen snark. I don't think many of us know what it's like to be in the public eye and have so many people hating on you all the time, regardless of a lot the snark being justified.

These people are human too and despite their brave and winning public images are probably pretty fragile in a lot of ways.

I can see it checking some people on their snark about trivial things like hair and makeup, but I actually disagree that all the venting and frustrations on threads like this are too harsh in light of eternal realities. Quite the opposite actually. Dave’s death is the kind of thing that will cause Jen to stare the truth of mortality in the face again, including her own. And if it had been her heart that quit a week or two ago, then the last thing she put out into the world was that silly dildo video. And if it had been her death making headlines today and people who had never heard of her were suddenly looking up her name… That’s what they would be finding on her pages…”I didn’t recognize the name Jen Hatmaker, but I looked her up and it’s a middle-aged divorcee who podcasts about her sex life…some sort of blogger/influencer type…” This might be a reality check Jen needs to turn her time and attention and efforts back to things of eternal value. She did that once upon a time, whether it was genuine or not.

I wonder when Jen found out about Dave. She always portrayed her friendship with Dave like they’re super tight and they both indicated they would get together to talk sh*t about their exes, so it probably would have given Rachel Hollis much pleasure to not keep Jen in the loop and let her find out “like everyone else”… hopefully his kids got quality time with their dad since it seems it went from hospitalization to resting at home, rather than totally sudden. If he was coherent, and if they were indeed tight in an actual friendship and not just shared publicity stunts, then he probably reached out to Jen himself. While her recent posts (and Tyler’s) indicate nothing about knowing Dave was at the end of his life, they also very well could’ve written those posts in advance and timed them to post as valentines approached. Not uncommon for influencers.

The other friend she had to grieve publicly was Rachel held Evans. And it was more about “moving forward in a shared mission in Rachel’s name”…not so much that they were besties, but just had a lot in common in their work and beliefs.

Does anyone else think it’s kind of crazy that no one is allowed to publicly ask if *you know what* was the cause? Everyone just calls that “wild speculation”. But, we’re all thinking it, right? If the *you know what* had nothing to do with it, then why doesn’t anyone come out and publicly say, “Yes, this person was seemingly healthy, but he had an undiagnosed blah, blah, blah” or “a family history of heart problems”?
Instead we just get, “WE DON’T KNOW WHAT CAUSED THIS AND ALSO, YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO ASK!”

Dave's death is shocking. 47 is so young and he's got four young kids. He was a very energetic man always on the go and always seemed to embrace life to the fullest. He didn't seem physically sick but I haven't really been following him for a couple of years.

Someone posted over on Reddit that he was hospitalized when he was on that recent Mastermind trip and several of those "guru's" had given heart doc rec's. He's been so up and down with his fitness (especially when he did that competition), so there is speculation (not by me) that this may have had some effect. There's also wild spec that it was something else. I know this is a Jen sub, sorry to get off topic.

I'm one of the old folks that started following Jen through seeing her at Women of Faith. I bought a couple of her books. But looking at her social media now, I have no idea what her message is. She doesn't relate to me at all, even though I have also been through a divorce after a 20+ year marriage. She's just another influencer I guess that doesn't improve my life in any way.

I think what is striking about her Valentine's Post, other than the fact it's extremely juvenile, is that she's never spent VDay alone, by herself. She has to convey to the world how loved she is by everyone!! Listen guys, I had ONE VDay when I didn't have a man but I was FINE! because I had my friends' husbands!

Here's hoping Brandon bought out the LV store for Tina and Brandon just calls her for a booty call and she has to spend her money on a flight to NYC. There seems to be no return on the investment in that relationship other than I guess they need to have sex with someone.
