As a former Westfield grad with a decent amount of friends from the 20171 split feeder hell area… I don’t blame these families for advocating. Had a friend whose small neighborhood was split Westfield/South Lakes/Oakton

They essentially had no friends going into high school out of Carson MS

It worked for Langley and the FairFACTS families. Don't hate on Emerald Chase cause you can't play the game.

You guys were rude, ignorant and selfish.

And you took away the voice of people in that pyramid.

The Langley and Fairfacts did not do what you did to take away the voice of other schools in the district. In fact, the Fairfacts and Langley folks were generous and helpful to other neighborhoods across the county to help them organize to get their voices heard.

The Emerald Crest families were behaving like selfish jerks.

It's EMERALD CHASE, sad West Springfield lady. Sorry you don't understand how to organize.

How would you feel if all of the rest of the area decides to organize to flood the rest of the meetings with posts saying that rezoning Emerald Chase to Westfield is the best rezoning choice FCPS could make?

If you look at their HOA page, you can see they are organizing to attend the Chantilly meeting - highly recommend organizing people from other regions to flood them out there.

FYI, this neighborhood is trying to game the system. Please look at the instructions they sent to their entire HOA here: https://www.emeraldchase.org/p/BOUNDARY-REVIEW

I’ll be sending this to Seema Dixit. Totally ridiculous when other areas that are potentially being moved are smaller. We can’t compete with the larger numbers, and our neighborhood won’t come out in full force because we are split across schools as it is. Screw them.

It sounds like one small HOA convinced everyone in the neighborhood to join the call. I looked it up, Emerald Chase is really small. 168 houses.

I was right, they have a page on their HOA website. https://www.emeraldchase.org/p/BOUNDARY-REVIEW

ALSO, oh my god, they are not just trying to convince Thru to keep them where they are, NO, they want to go to "better" schools. They want them to completely change their pyramid from Oak Hill - Carson - Westfield to Oak Hill - Franklin - Chantilly. WTF????

They are delusional. Chantilly is overcrowded — they are not getting in there. I hope they are ignored.

Yes.

Their posts tonight were all like that, with hundreds of online upvotes.

It was the Region 4 feedback meeting. Every post that makes the top 5 will be about Emerald Chase needing to go to Chantilly.

For a neighborhood of 168 houses - there can't be more than 50 kids in elementary school from that tiny neighborhood, WTF?

I think the slides said it would take more than 90 out of Oak Hill in the split feeder presentation in April.

I don't see them getting to Chantilly. They are taking kids out of Chantilly that currently go there.

A simple solution would be for one person at each of the remaining meetings to create a suggestion asking that all Emerald Chase feedback get moved to their Region meeting and removed from other Region meetings so everyone's voices are heard, then have everyone online vote for that one post.

You would lose 1 of the 5 feedbacks, but better to lose one than to lose all 5 to Emerald Chase.

FCPS and Thru need to remove their feedback from other region's meetings, and move it to their own region meeting.

That is the only fair way to deal with this.

Absolutely not. Residents were told they could attend any meeting. And they have a voting system than anyone can use. Emerald Chase didn’t do anything wrong. They’re advocating for their kids. If other areas don’t like it, they should do the same.

No, the questions are anonymous and the voting is too. It is a script or "bot." Literally one person could have made all the questions and votes. I noticed it at the first (Oakton) meeting when it was happening and looked at it briefly. Very easy to manipulate the results (for anyone in IT at least).

I sat there watching it in real time.

I felt like it was a bot. The upvotes came so rapidly, faster than hundreds of people could find their posts in the roughly 300 other posts.

And the system was glitchy, so you had to tap the vote buttons a couple of times to get it to stick.
