Subject: All schools should offer an all-virtual option
So what's the argument against a centralized DCPS virtually school for those of us that would choose it?
The virtual charter school is full and I don't care to rely on them to fulfill a public interest.

It's still not clear why this would have to be school by school. This might go on for years. If it's really about keeping your lottery seat, consider that if you aren't getting what you want from your school, it's probably time to leave anyway.
(If schools don't open, we will leave. Because our school will have made a decision we understand means that what they think is best for kids and what we think is best for kids don't sync.)

Look I be you are scared. You have options. You can indeed homeschool. There is indeed a need for in person school and you demand for a virtual option at every school is inequitable and painfully clueless. Somehow you think posting article after article about pediatric hospitalizations will somehow get you want you want (which is apparently the ability to not lose your lottery spot).

Ps - How many doctors have to sound the alarm on this before we start taking it seriously. Here’s another one:
“We are seeing those increasing cases in children, and I will say what I am seeing from my pediatrician colleagues particularly in areas where infection rates are high is they are seeing very sick kids.”

Why are people so worried about Covid in kids. It is not rational. Even if your kid gets sick, 99.9% odds they will fully recover. I wasn’t even that worried about myself and I’m in my mid forties. Even before vaccination was available, I had to travel to Africa for work. All good. Life does not need to stop because some of you are panicking.

I'm sure people with compelling health reasons could get DC to find space at Friendship online school. If you are that worried about dying from Covid, you shouldn't be trying to hold on to your lottery spot. GMAFB.

you can try out KIPP or homeschool.
Or try one of the many virtual schools available (although you have to pay). But if delta is that concerning to you hopefully you can find some solution to make you feel comfortable.
