sure friends was a thing but part of its thing is that white people will watch white people but not 'black' shows even if they are very similar, that should make us all feel a little uncomfortable.

I get your point you’re trying to make, but that’s a vast overgeneralization. The Cosby Show, The Jefferson’s, Sanford and Son, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Family Matters, Good Times are just a few that come to mind.

And there is no so such thing as an “original” sitcom.

Will Ferrell is funny as a sidekick or in a cameo (think Frank the Tank or Chaz), but if he is the main character (think Elf, Anchorman, or Talladega Nights), you are correct.

Adam Sandler was funny doing the Hanukkah song, but that was it. Agreed. Baby voice in every movie. He sucks. Wedding Singer was the best movie he was in, but Drew B. and the 80s music references carried that movie.

I thought Home Alone had its moments, but a very overrated movie.

Oh, and while we're at it, this year's Oscar winner, Nomadland, is so unoriginal and pretentious it's unwatchable. The only reason it got the award is its Asian female director who also happen to be super privileged but that's another story..

Blake Lively as Serena van der Woodsen was the definition of “suspend disbelief.” She can’t act to save her life. The actress playing Blair (blanking on her name, Leighton Meester?) would have fit the role much better; Blake would have done well as Jenny.

I never could figure out why things like the Bachelor/ette shows, Love Island etc. are not seen as pretty much outright prostitution. But I guess if everyone signs the releases and says they're fine with being presented that way....

Too many “users” on those shows only out for Instagram fame, with their goal being to make money off fit tea referral codes. The Bachelor(ette) is also suuuuuuper boring, and I know what you mean about feeling dumber as you watch it. I genuinely don’t get the appeal. Colton in particular was an ugly, boring dud (I do think he came out in part to revive whatever was left of his TV “career”). Even 90 Day Fiancé jumped the shark a few years ago, unfortunately.

Bruce Springsteen isn’t that great and appeals to middle-aged men who have nothing going for them in their lives.

I watch some reality TV shows and agree that brain cells die during this time. I don’t think that’s an unpopular opinion. However my real life stressors (career, toddler, aging parents, COVID etc etc) fade away for an hour, and I need that.

Also, +1, I do find them quite interesting from a sociological perspective. It’s insight to life styles and thought processes that are outside of my world. If they were on NatGeo or PBS instead of Bravo people would think differently. I mean, the choices being made by people on 16 and Pregnant, and Housewives of NYC or BH…interesting.

Very different from my life, which is more like “The Cosby Show” adjacent.

I hated the movies Moonlight and LaLaLand. The fact that they won awards but not really shocked.
