Still a rumor. This is a post referencing another article not from DA. Welp - still waiting for an official announcement.

Lol omg... denial ain’t just a river in Egypt lol

I think we have all accepted it as true but reposting the SAME article in this thread multiple times is not actually news either.

Still no official announcement from US soccer.

Not sure what they are waiting for?

Teams are already announcing their post DA plans.

SD Surf and Real So Cal are the only two GDA teams that, so far today, have announced they were accepted by ECNL. Those announcements were first thing this morning PDT.

If the same thing was going to happen with any of the local GDA teams, you'd think those announcements would already have been made, and parents of girls on those teams would have posted the news.

Instead, the silence is deafening.

But where they were then before this landscape change is not where they are now. We are looking at the lens of the DMV, which maybe has enough clubs. But there are plenty of parts of the country where ECNL would be foolish not to fold in a solid DA team.

Very near, maybe adding 3-4 nationally.

...interesting

They've been fighting to get in. The have the entire Hampton Roads area to themselves. Its a no brainer.

Trust and believe, Loudoun and Mclean will be pushing for that over Arlington and or FCV

But quality-wise, Arlington and FCV are better, even in a diluted market, than Beach. My DD has played Beach, and has also scrimmaged Arlington DA team. Not even close to the same.

Because the best Beach kids are at Richmond United. They have no other option.

I don't think Arlington would want to be in ECNL if both boys and girls have to join together. The boys side of ECNL in this area is just not competitive. There are two or three pretty good non-DA boys clubs in the area and none of them are ECNL clubs. And of the good clubs only Pipeline can really field teams which are competitive with the boys DA teams, and even then perhaps not at every age group.

What age group are you talking about? In the 03 age group, BRYC, MCLEAN and LOUDOUN are all head and shoulders above Arlington 03. It has been exhibited in head to head games.

04 and below. i.e. All the teams which have been playing DA

Richmond United Families,

As you are probably aware, rumors have been circulating regarding the demise of the Development Academy. US Soccer’s potential decision was brought to our attention early last week. Since then, we have worked diligently with leaders across the country, representing DA clubs, non-DA clubs and national leagues to establish how we move forward from this decision.

We are pleased to announce that we will be joining the Boys ECNL Mid-Atlantic Conference that will include DA clubs VDA, NCFC, NC Fusion, Charlotte Academy, and Charlotte Independence. An official ECNL announcement will be released later this afternoon and we will forward that to you as well.

Richmond United will continue to operate as in past seasons and is fully committed to offering the most comprehensive and successful player development environment in our region. We will provide more information in the coming weeks.

Thank you for your patience and support,

I'll give you two:

Tiernan and Herndon

Go talk to some BRYC and McLean players. Emily Fox is the most outstanding player to come out of FCV and she played 1 year of HS (fr year).
