Even if it weren't racist (which it is), it is elitist to the max. "No human being would want to live" in the neighborhoods Trump is attacking. Do those residents have a choice to live wherever they want? Does your neighborhood have apartments where people making minimum wage can afford? Does your neighborhood have homes that someone making $40k a year can afford to buy?
I'm sure most people want to live in a large, elegant, brand new (or completely remodeled) home in a pristine neighborhood with absolutely no crime, good access to stores and restaurants and public transportation, surrounded by beautiful parks and greenery. How many Americans can afford that dream?
Must be nice when you're a millionaire like Trump who can live wherever he wants to feel free to sneer at people for "choosng" to live in one of Kushner's slummy apartment buildings.

I was totally appalled at the way Elijah Cummings treated Keven McAleenan at the hearing last week. He was incredibly disrespectful and hateful toward him - and it was he and members of his party who refused to admit that there was a crisis at the border months ago when others were sounding the alarm. I don't think Cummings is racist or a bad person, but his treatment of McAleenan was unacceptable. He needed to be called out for it.
He can be called out without saying the residents of Baltimore are subhuman.

I have friends who choose to live in Baltimore. If they are not human beings what are they?
Do they live in the sections with squalor and rats?
As a matter of fact one of them does live in Cummings' district. There are some rats in the neighborhood, and some trash, though it's not any more shocking on his street than in other big cities across America.
He wants to live there because 1) it's where he grew up 2) he has a lot of friends there 3) he can afford a house there and 4) his mother lives a few blocks away.
So, here is an instance of someone who wants to live in the area of Baltimore Trump says no human being would want to live in. Do you agree with Trump that my friend and his neighbors who want to live in their neighborhood aren't human beings?

DP, but this is a dog whistle. Words and phrases are being used without explicitly using the N-word, but it is what is implied by the specific words and phrases. If you want to take the conversation as literal - rat infestation in Baltimore, that is your choice, but the racists know what the President meant, and many of us know what he meant as well.
