According to every statistic I've read, 85% of the construction industry workers are American citizens. You probably have a skewed perspective because we live in an area that prioritizes illegal immigrants over American citizens. In areas w/o illegal immigrants Americans are more than happy to work construction.

American workers have business expenses and expect to be paid a fair wage for their experience and skill. The undocumented workers you pay a scant wage to have no skills, less experience, and will cause mistakes that you may only uncover after you try to sell your house and realize there are infractions.

Not so fast. The undocumented do the constuction jobs Americans aren't willing to do for lowered wages and little or no job protections. It's a shame for roofers and general construction workers that they don't need licensure like plumbers, electricians, etc. so their trades weren't driven to below middle-class wage earning status.

In my part of the country, the folks who work this jobs are those people who were born and raised in this area.
Nobody here is “too proud” to work hard.

The trend is that the victim is the same race as their attacker. Was I talking about other countries when I wrote the above post? NO. My East African immigrant father (Muslim!!) just told me last week he is seriously toying with voting for Trump! My mom thinks he has lost his marbles, and so do I. Like OP, he also loves Obama (African pride) and he defends him to all his white male conservative buddies at work. He said he hasn't told a soul at work about how we may vote for Trump. He is a lifelong Republican but donated hundreds to and changed his party affiliation to Democrat just to vote for Obama in the primaries after the Hillary camp tried to fear-monger with the Obama pics in traditional African cultural garb. He really hates Hillary and Bill Clinton for a multitude of reasons-most that are too complicated to get into here.

I agree the polls could be skewed. That's because the liberals are almost abusive to those who won't support their candidate. I've had my neighbors stop speaking to me when I said I don't want to vote for HRC, and the name-calling, cursing, and insults on this forum when someone expresses a different opinion is astounding.
