Oh yes, the entire point of the civil rights movement was to create the ridiculous identity politics that we have today. Not, you know, to help black people vote, own property, not be discriminated against in employment, not to stop lynchings or protest against the racist legal system ... it was to protest sports team names. LOL.

Education Reform is total BS. The kids in the ghetto can't make it in life because their families suck and DC doesn't care about their public schools as much as it does the ones the rich kids go to. It does not take a village to raise a good kid.it takes two parents who actually care about their kids. The good teachers start out in the crappy schools bcuz these schools are desperate for educators and the teachers need a resume builder.

I also think that principal at the school in NW staged the big gay day celebration last year so he could claim discrimination when he got fired for sucking at his job.

I think there's a possibility that Bill Cosby is innocent, and this whole thing is a conspiracy.

I don't think soldiers defend our freedom.

I think they did during WWII against the Japanese. I think that is what created the military worship culture, and we just continued to worship out of nostalgia.

It is okay to live in apartments and not own a home in this area.

Go to a random rescue fair, how many times are you vaguely told that some dog came from "some" rescue in the south somewhere? I think they are routed though shady nonprofit to shady nonprofit until they get to wealthy areas.

People who are blindly smug about rescuing drive me nuts. There are some good rescue organizations but many aren't.

+100 The main areas of puppy mills are the Amish in PA, and the mountains of Appalachia. There are a lot of "homeless" Bichons, poodles, Maltese and dachshunds there in the mountains that "have to be given up"

wow.. you sound so uptight.

I am. I am secretly VERY uptight. Quite judgmental.

I bet it's not a secret. Plastic toys? Are your kids playing with wooden trains and rubber balls exclusively?

Not PP, but when my kids were little we had very few plastic toys. I claimed that it was for health/environmental reasons, but mostly I just think plastic toys look garish. Yes, wooden trains, blocks, etc. Somehow my kids survived.

You should not have kids if you cannot afford them.

Why do so many atheists seem to be so angry and condescending? In my life, I've seen only one atheist who isn't disrespectful to believers and others who don't share their belief system. Why?? Why can't atheists disagree respectfully?

Perhaps you simply don't know all the atheists around you? Certainly some of us are more vocal than others. I'm an atheist and would never want to be condescending toward those who believe in a God - even on an anonymous forum. Sure, some atheist are condescending but so are some religions folks. I mean, really, has an atheist ever come knocking on your door to ridicule you for your beliefs? Or to save you from yourself? Some people are just jerks.

Good poin, thank you. I hadn't thought of that. I should have said "vocal atheists".

An unvaccinated child either is a danger, or it is not. He or she doesn't become any less or more dangerous because his daddy and mommy did it for god.

I completely agree. Is this an opinion in the strong minority?

My dogs have all been rescues, The most recent was brought up from SC from a high kill shelter. People in rural areas down there don't go to shelters to get dogs, They have so many breeders down there that a lot of the dogs that arent sellable for whatever reason are either killed or abandoned. The abandoned ones go to the shelter, then a rescue group (hopefully) pulls the dog and brings it to an area where it is more likely to be adopted.
Puppy Mills are terrible places for all the dogs, especially the parents who have to keep breeding and never get to leave.
If you get a puppy know where it came from and what the situation is with the Mother.

Which was to have freedom from discrimination in employment, places of business, and housing. Not sure it had anything to do with football mascots, per se. That kind of started with an NCAA crackdown, but somehow the ridiculously racist Seminole mascot and tomahawk chop still exist.

Men in a family with a mom who works out of the house full time really don't pull their fair share the vast majority of the time but the woman in their lives put up with it bc they are afraid to be divorced.
