I’m one who thinks voters should have a say but after what democrats did when Biden dropped out I am at the point where I can’t muster any outrage about this.
You really have no room to complain.

Can't he just resign as US Attorney? I thought the rule was that you can't serve in both executive and legislative branches at the same time. Is there some rule you can't also be a candidate?
If he signed up as a candidate while he was a political appointee of the administration he’s just as ineligible as if he was only 27 years old and shouldn’t be able to be on the ballot.
Alme resigned as US Attorney right before signing up as a candidate.
Oh? Was there a press release confirming that?

And the other major question is: Will Paxton's voters show up for Cornyn in November without Trump on the ballot?
Yes. The prediction is that if Cornyn is the candidate he will win.
It's a long way to election day, and American people seem to want change. It will be a very clear choice that Texans will be able to make about whether they want the 74 year incumbent Republican who has held that seat for a quarter of a century and is known for supporting tax cuts for billionaires while voting against the ACA providing health insurance for Americans and being anti-gay or a 35 year old Teach for America vet and Presbyterian seminarian who speaks decent SPanish.
