I think you're wrong. My relatives, who are all moderate/independent sometimes-voters in NC, have been texting me asking wtf is going on. The last time that happened was Jan 6th.

What is your position/occupation in DC?

NP here. I've had relatives ask the same thing and I hold no "up there" job. They live in FL so their news is generally about what is going on with the amusement parks there while our news is generally what the Fed Gov't is up to.

You don’t want the Dems to hold strong. That’s what happens in communist countries. Individualists act like it.

I work in politics. They're totally uninterested in it. LOL

Magic number is 218.

Assuming all 434 members are voting.

As in the first 5 votes. And why Jeffries isn’t speaker with a mere majority.

Party members respecting the whip is what happens in every functional democracy. Can you name any country that anyone would actually choose to live in that lacks political parties?

Right. Because the House is usually so important and useful in those situations. (Eye roll)

DP. Don't be so obtuse, it is important to have a functioning government at all levels to address issues

With Republicans in charge it's not going to be functional with or without a speaker, let's be real.

Yeah, the Republicans have been doing a good job of holding strong for a long time, the Party of No. It's taken them this long to finally implode.

Don't worry, the Dems will implode much more quickly. But apparently they might get the Speakership before they do.

The R party let the [crazy] dogs out. Now, they can't control them. They unleashed their crazies onto this entire country.

So many of these clowns should not be in Congress — they should be in jail or home, after losing their elections or forced to resign or forbidden to hold office as insurrectionists etc etc. Therefore, here we are.

The Rs are being held hostage by the very people they should have silenced, criticized, demoted, marginalized, testified against, voted against. Instead MTG is the current defacto leader.
