This photo was in a news article showing captured Russian munitions. Although the disarray can be explained (the Ukrainians moved them), the quality of munitions caught my eye. Although a little rust / oxidation is normal, take a close look at the tips of the three shells in the lower right hand portion of the photo. At first it looked like a normal type of round marking like this one:

If you enlarge it, the two on the right definitely seem to be in bad shape.
Artillery rounds are like rolls of toilet paper - you use a lot of them, and they don't stick around long. This type of shell damage doesn't happen overnight.. or in a few days.. or in a few weeks.. and I don't think even in a few months (although it would be strange that the Russians would hoard precious artillery rounds a few months?). Guessing it could be this ammo is from an old cold war stockpile that wasn't meant to be used right away?

Does it mean that the Russians are out of modern weapons and munitions? Of course not. But what it means is that arming 300K solders will be "come as you are" and with whatever else can be manufactured in the next few months.

OPTION A: reduce the number of troublemaker males in the cities. Plausible. Gives Kremlin control of the greatest threat to the Kremlin right now. But idle troops don't stay idle long. Will they b
OPTION B: invade Ukraine. Plausible. The strategy would be to overwhelm Ukrainian defenses with sheer numbers until the Ukrainians run out of ammo? Not sure that's a good strategy? Especially if the troops get two weeks training and are sent there in time for winter?
OPTION C: if you use nukes, you can expect a military response. 300K would be about right to shore up Russian defenses. But this assumes that the Russian troops play nice and do as they are told.
OPTION D: Putin is losing control and this is what a wild Alpha does when cornered by the pack. If so, logic and reason are out the door.
