A mom saw the "shooter" in the woods with a 'sniper rifle', and made a 911 call the police. NCS, Sidwell and St. Albans were locked down within minutes. The BB gun was found in the back seat of the car and the car was traced to the boys. The boys were taken out of class in cuffs and the incident was widely reported with dramatic video on the web.
STA acted quickly. The boys were barred from school for the remaining few weeks of the year (the lacrosse season had already ended) but allowed to graduate. Both boys faced DC gun charges. If anything, STA's quick action was deemed too harsh.
Too harsh? Missing the last few weeks of school? typical STA community protectiveness. "But our poor boys...blah blah blah." They were morons for doing what they did. If it was public school they would have been expelled.
If it was a public school, they would have been expelled for biting their peanut butter sandwich into the shape of a gun.

But, on the other hand, it's kind of nice when a Landon boy helps you win a National Championship with three goals and two assists. Well done Josh Offutt.

On the other hand, I don't think it's a bad idea to dig a little deeper into a Landon kid's background. Are these schools doing that? Of course not - they're giving them verbal offers as 15 year olds.
Cornell takes mostly public school kids from NY state or at least the Northeast region. They're not really a Landon kind of school.
Looks like one of Landon's nine D-1 players is headed to Cornell.

Three Landon boys going to Ivy League schools? I'm surprised. Even more surprised that Virginia is still recruiting from Landon.
