You don't like him because you think he might have autism???!

Not pp, but I think she said she didn't like him because he was a jerk for leaving in Edwina.

My question is whether every book basically has the same plot? Duke won't have kids because of problems with his father and his death bed vow. Anthony won't have a love marriage because of problems created when his father died. But then they do.

Are you at all familiar with the romance genre?

No, I guess I'm not

Hit reply too soon. Are Daddy issues a recurring theme in romance novels?

DP.. yes, back then (and in some cases today), the dads were total jerks. They had all the power. They had mistresses, gambled away the fortunes, did nothing productive, abused their families and thought that was all within their rights to do this. And then the kids suffer, and it shapes their future and who they are.

Recurring theme in romance novels. I read a lot of them.

As a non-romance reader, this is strange to me. What's romantic about a male lead with so much baggage? What's the turn on? That the woman comes along and helps break them free from their past?

Yes, it's a fantasy -- "love conquers all".

Doesn't quite work that way in reality.

I love these romance novels because it's an escape, and lighthearted. I don't need reality. It's my escapism.

Apart from that scene, I like how she speaks her mind but holds back after she says her piece and lets her children make mistakes. And I like to see a woman with wrinkles and not overpowering makeup - she's beautiful!

She's a stunning woman.
I think the older actresses are prettier than the ones playing their daughters.

Yes, Edwina's mom is a knockout. And I love the cuts on Lady Featherington's dresses. Must be hard to get in and out, I would guess, but that's why peeler had ladies in waiting maybe?

And, Lady Danbury is also gorgeous and such a fun character. Did they ever explain what happened to her spouse and whether she has kids or why not?

I don’t believe they have given much of Lady Danbury’s backstory, other than her godmother role to Simon. I agree she’s a great character and I hope they do in a future season!

There's going to be a spinoff with back stories with a young Lady Danbury, Queen, and mom Bridgerton. https://tvline.com/2022/05/03/bridgerton-spinoff-queen-charlotte-preview-spoilers-netflix/

In one of the books, her grandson is featured….we’ll see how many seasons Bridgerton lasts for

Yeah, I wish they would have kept her sweet. They made too much of her personality change.

Prudence (best one in the show)
Eloise bridgerton
Lord featherington (penniless cousin prudence wants to marry)
Mr brooks (cake eating jeweler)

Horrible acting:
Delacroix (Seamstress)
Sheffield mom (edwina’s grandma)
Edwina except in the one scene where she had just learned of the scheme and was hoping to still marry Anthony

Mr Brooks (cake eating jeweler) is the grunting, drinking, and sleeping Mr Hurst from 1995 P&P

Interesting!
