+1 Classic cognitive dissonance. Call something lies, attack the messenger, but don't provide any facts that dispute what you are challenging.

APE is lying about VMPI again in their latest newsletter.

Weird since VMPI is dead.

Maybe they actually believe the crap they spout? That's sad. I'd respect them more if they were evil connivers vs idiotic whiners.

They keep posting their dumb (poorly researched/analyzed) "newsletters" on AEM. I'd be happy if they would just go away.

You really don't have to read them. The purpose of AEM is to discuss and share topics and information relevant to education in Arlington. The fact that the forum is now over-run and dominated by sub-group of like-minded judgemental adults who are quick to criticize, shame, and shut-down any hint of differing opinion is extremely unfortunate. How about just not reading the posts by APE or others you don't agree with and letting the rest of AEM people make their own choices?

Their "dumb (poorly researched/analyzed) 'newsletters'" are the most informative and comprehensive communication on the various topics covered. I read the most recent one posted. I think your assessment of their newsletters is dumb and off-base. Prove them dumb and poorly analyzed by providing more accurate and more detailed and robust information. It's kind of hard to justify their notes of school board meetings and other meetings "dumb" and poorly researched when they are merely reporting what happened and what was said and discussed.

I am not associated with APE, but they have been providing good information that APS doesn't bother to provide. You need to get a life instead of spending so much energy hating APE.

I read this one because people said it was helpful. First few sentences in and they are spouting lies. I just don't trust anything that comes to out this group.

Also, they may want to keep their raging Bs from pushing their newsletters. Really hurts credibility to have people like that encouraging people to sign up.

Seriously think you are letting your hatred of APE and people on DCUM who mentioned that one article defending one idea of VMPI cloud your judgement here. Nothing in the VDOE math part of the APE newsletter implies that VDOE is trying to keep VMPI alive. Nothing.

Yes, they didn't imply that. They fundamentally misrepresented VMPI. They are either lying or completely clueless. Either way, they have demonstrated that they are incapable to meaningful analysis.

So they...agreed with WaPo's Jay Matthew's assessment of VMPI round one, pre-April 2021?

Given that it's now February 2022 it's just wrong. The question is whether it was intentional or are they just ignorant/sloppy.

Arlington tends to attract people who are overly confident in their "analysis" - even when they miss some very basic facts.

They are still full of it and have raging a-hole pushing their signup. Gross.

WHAT PART IS WRONG? I find the Arlington Parents for Education facebook group to be much more useful than the AEM group. I don't agree with certain posters, but there are actual productive conversations there.

How do you know if it's "productive" if it's built on lies/misinformation/inaccuracies?

Apparently the PP disliked the part where APE said "The Northam VDOE had intended to use the 2023 SOL revision to implement the Virginia Math Pathways Initiative (VMPI), which would have ended Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II and replaced them with blended math courses that all students in Grades 8-10 would take."

That's something that VMPI itself actually said....

Not accurate.

But...VDOE uploaded this when they were trying to backtrack on the part about acceleration. They literally DID say it.

The content from Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 is not being eliminated by
VMPI, but rather the content of these courses will be blended into a seamless
progression of connected learning
. This encourages students to connect mathematical
concepts and develop a much deeper and more relevant understanding of each
concept within its context and relevance.

Yes, they were blending AGA. They weren't requiring students to take them in 8-10. It's misleading and pushes the RWNJ false narrative around advanced math. Still. In Feb 2022.

What are the lies? I read it and see that the head of the MAC commented on the post in AEM seemingly agreeing with the analysis.
