Anybody want to talk a little lacrosse?

Fall tourney schedules/groups are pretty much out. What are people's thoughts/predictions?

Looks like both Capital teams, Pride Black and White, and Stars will all be at the Chesapeake Invitational. Brackets look pretty balanced.

Anyone want to comment on how their new teams look after all the offseason realignment, and how they might fare in the season openers?

I will take a swing.

Stars LB has a couple of tough games with Sky Walkers White and Florida Select. Good to see they are mixing it up.

Both Pride teams look properly placed in groups, but depending how their final rosters shook out, could struggle a bit.

Capital Orange looks to be in a group they should do well in and could go 2-1 or 3-0.

Capital Blue is jumping right in, however, playing 3 teams that finished in the top 10 last year in Aces, M&D Black and Eagle Stix at Chesapeake. They do not appear to be getting a warm up bracket for the first tournament like the 2027s did last year, and overall have as tough a schedule as anybody in November.
They play 9 games against top 10 teams in the November tournaments, including Hero's Green, Eagle Stix, Crush, Coppermine, M&D Black and Aces. And they round those games out with Laxachusetts, Sky Walkers, and Jesters--all tough outs (apparently Sky Walkers looked great at the Play Day last week). A baptism by fire to be sure. They may only be legitimately favored to beat one team (M&D Red) on their Fall schedule.

Cue the naysayers. I will go with PP's recommendation to wait until after the summer before judging how any of these teams are doing.

The bottom line is that it all comes together during the summer recruiting period, so don't stress about it. Have fun and focus on team chemistry and being a supportive, positive parent with the team.

A lot of people think the 2028 Capital team is terrible despite being comprised of a large majority of Pride players who ended last season ranked #7 which is higher than any Pride team ever ranked prior to the mass exodus to Capital that occurs in 9th grade.

People that have been following Capital for a while (and follow the 2025, 2026, etc) say this happens every year when girls merge to a new team to start high school and each year the Capital teams get better which culminates in excellent recruiting success (which is hard to argue).

Time will tell if this 2028 group follows the same trajectory but I guess there will be 200 more pages of the same argument until recruiting time comes

Keep in mind 2025 Capital lost their first game 18-1 as freshmen and had to get it together….so Nov doesn’t mean much to 2028…

Correct. And they finished that first tournament 3-1 including beating Skywalkers Blue 24 hours after losing to Heros Green in the first game.... And never lost to Hero's Green Ever Again. As Sophmores, Cap 25 Blue beat Heros Green by a score of 15-3 at Presidents Cup in Dallas. Now that's impressive!

Regardless of who made what team or is not on a team, not everyone just falls in line. Carry on though, very entertaining. and remember, trust the process!

I actually think it may be one (or more) 2029 M&D DC supporters who are stirring up the trouble. They want the 2029 crew to think Capital is on the outs and M&D DC is the heir apparent. The prior Capital teams have all been too successful to make the case convincingly, so it's necessary to tear down the 2028s and try and sell a downward trend to the rubes who might be inclined to get on board.

Good summary. Covered ad nauseam for 20 plus pages earlier in the thread. From that argument, I believe the weight of the data and historical track record favor those who think this 2028 Capital class will be just fine.

One factual note: former Pride Red players make up half the Capital Blue roster, versus a "large majority", but that half of the roster represents a majority of the former Pride roster (they finished their run with 18 or 19 players).

Some additional layers to the argument, which I, too, hope we don't have to replay for pages and pages, are worth acknowledging. Some of the 2028 naysayers suggest that: (1) the fact that BLC and NL 2028s weren't competitive through middle school (even though they had some good players) means that the overall pool in the DC area wasn't as strong as past years, despite the relative success of Pride, and the decent ranking for Stars; and (2) too many top players (former NL, Pride, and Stars) left for Baltimore teams, also impacting the chances for the Capital 2028s.

As PP noted, we shall see. Would make rational sense to give them through the summer season before drawing a conclusion. But I'm sure the loud, negative voices will continue to post snark, sometimes in all caps. Best of luck to all the teams.

Amen to all of this and I would like to add that it seems a few or maybe just one person is constantly annoyed with Capital and hates hard....what I still don't understand is the why....Capital parents do not have this level of hate for Pride, Heros, M&D etc. not that I have seen anyway. I just don't get why the hate on the program.

If half the new Capital team is old Pride Red players, what are other teams that make up Capital? Is Pride Black the A and White is B? Is Stars Light Blue still strong?
