Don’t forget that Jen lies and exaggerates about almost everything. Divorcing couples usually have many difficult conversations during the process. She probably just had her friends there for emotional support, not physical protection as she tried to imply.

It’s hard for people who ascribe to group think to understand that plenty of people are able to think for themselves. It seems the majority of Jen’s followers like some things about her and don’t care for other things. You can tell by the engagement on her posts that all of her fans aren’t all-in on everything that she posts/shills/believes. Her posts on progressive Christianity and motherhood still resonate for many while other posts and sales pitches have little engagement and occasionally even some criticism.

Many of my recently-divorced friends are fans of hers. Even before Jen's own divorce, they really liked her full of fire pablum. But my friends were in bad marriages, to goofy guys who should have never been married.

This made me think about Kristen and Jamie's exes. While Kristen's husband was unfaithful and they grew apart, he sounded like more of a man-child. Jamie's ex sounded borderline abusive and a sex addict. With these bad marriages in the rear view mirror, I wonder if it colored how they approached Jen with Brandon. Like, they didn't seem to offer her advice on how to work it out, work on the marriage, or reconcile. It was straight to divorce. And although Kristen and Jamie seem very happy with their current relationships, you wonder if misery loves company. Plus, they only saw him once per year, or heard about him via Jen's group texts when she likely was texting only when there was a problem.

Seriously how can people still find ways to blame the woman when the man is out here owning up to ending things??

I think her fan base is just clueless women on fb who never dig deeper. You know, like your sweet slightly annoying friend who was SHOCKED to hear your opinion that essential oils MLMs are scams and still didn’t completely believe you even after you presented the facts.

Basically, my mother-in-law, if she were liberal.

Who is Jen’s current fan base, really? All of the people I know in real life that used to love her (bought the books, went to the events) can’t stand her now. All of my liberal friends in real life have never heard of her.

The way she treats her fans/consumers is how she always treated her family. Uses them. Fun and kind and champions them when it serves her. Snarky and dismissive and uninterested when it does not. Flip-flopping on everything from major theological debates to whether or not she wanted to be a part of people’s lives or events. Definition of “wherever the wind blows” — Brandon was the steady one until he was not. I live in the area with many mutual friends but was never a part of ANC. Local rumor mill always said the lake is where sh!# went down.

Don’t forget all the gift-buying for a house of 7, birthdays, Christmas, and anniversaries - one of her favorite things to mention about him for years. That he did all the thoughtful things while she did none (and laughed about it), and that when their kids needed a parent, they always went straight to him first. Her own admissions.

Again, I don’t think anyone mentions good things about Brandon as a means of defending what he did. But Jen had it pretty good with him and treated him like she did…it was sad to watch. Ex-ANC here, and I had left the church long before their divorce. But Brandon was the heart. Jen was the business plan. He screwed up but so did she, perhaps more often and worse; just differently.


OMG. This response right here. No she didn’t screw up more often and worse than Brandon. And no, she did not have it pretty good with him. That was just the story she told herself, and all of her followers. I don’t care how many gifts my husband is buying or wrapping if he’s popping pills and banging randoms. Seriously, what has Jen done that’s worse? Worse? Oh, FFSake. She has a flair for the dramatic, makes annoying videos, and hawks lip gloss and wine subscriptions. The worst thing she’s done is promote Better Health.
