I think it's earlier in this thread that someone said his family was providing financial support for hers, which needed it. You can declare that she should have told them to suck it up and go broke, and gone broke with them, but Albert did have leverage.
Wouldn't she have been able to get lucrative sponsorship deals as an extremely photogenic Olympian? That would have kept her family reasonably comfortable. She could also have moved on to a more patron/husband. One she liked better. I just don't get the financial coercion argument for the marriage when he face and body could well have offered her alternate avenues to comfort.
I don’t think she’s close enough to her family to feel an obligation to marry someone who could provide for them. She was just in South Africa for a year and with a health crisis and her family said they didn’t see her at all due to CoVID for the whole year.

Yeah it sounds like they're an abortion rights protest which couldn't be further from the truth...
I thought it was some strange vegetarian or commentary on Albert slowly crushing the soul of his wife.
They're at the Monaco Grand Prix and the Monegasque don't care enough about Albert's wife to protest over her. IDK maybe its environmentalist concerns over gas prices or something? But its in English. Weird, all-around.

My take is she tried to escape and he brought her back. Twice. He’s gross. She sticks around so she doesn’t lose access to the kids. I’m not sure why he won’t let her leave while goes with his mistress.

We will never know what goes on in their private lives. But two thoughts: 1) does a prince need to wear his own badge on a lanyard? That's a surprise. 2)Couldn't a prince get a more dignified hat than that ball cap?

I wonder if she is bipolar, on drugs, or both. Especially after her video in South Africa she did outside. Perhaps one or other, in addition to being in a miserable marriage. Plus, a miserable marriage can lead to substance abuse, or lead to popping that SSRI that triggers latent bipolar disorder.

NP but I still think she didn’t have to go through with marrying him or even getting engaged. They dated for awhile, she knew what kind of man he was. What would her family have done if she never met him? She probably met other successful men once she was in his orbit, she could have met someone new. This wasn’t an arranged marriage of some 17 year old girl so it feels like she has to take some accountability for her situation.
Yeah, I don't get it either. But this is different from MM and Harry's case. MM loves Harry, just did not like the set-up in London. In this case, seems like Charlene is disgusted by him.
