If 1,000 kids die of flue, nobody cares, but if 400 die from COVID, it's a crisis.

HARRIS: Even a vaccinated parent can occasionally get infected with the coronavirus. There's also a small risk that the virus can pass to an unvaccinated child, and that child has an extremely small risk of getting seriously ill. To date, out of more than 74 million children in the United States, there have been about 300 COVID deaths and a few thousand serious illnesses. Hospitalization numbers look worse, but Dr. Roshni Mathew at Stanford's Children's Hospital says those numbers are inflated.
Tell me if you would - what’s the risk of lifelong disability with flu vs covid?

Go ahead and wear a mask all day long. I did it when it was necessary starting in February of last year when the fools in charge were saying it wouldn't help.
Based on what we know now about the risk of this disease today, and the fact that we have vaccinations available, masking is no longer necessary in my opinion.
But nobody is stopping you from wearing a mask all the time to help prevent spreading all the other diseases you don't seem to care about spreading to vulnerable people like the flu.

When the consequences of getting COVID and its variants drops to that of the flu, then I'll stop wearing a mask. And yes, I do care about the flu as well all sorts of other communicable diseases, which is why I get an annual flu shot and am fully up to date on all my vaccinations as is everyone in my immediate family. I wonder how people will look back on people like you, asking whether they did enough to prevent this crisis. I hope you think whatever "freedom" you're getting right now is worth the consequences.

As of 7/12, more than 159 million Americans are fully vaccinated.
Out of that 159 million, 5,492 have been hospitalized or died with Covid. (Not all of those people were symptomatic, some just tested positive. But let's look at the worst case scenario.)
That's about 35 people out of every 1 MILLION vaccinated ends up in the hospital or dies of Covid (and this is generous, as all those people reported to the CDC didn't die of Covid).

More than acceptable risk. So we don't need mask mandates or lockdowns or restrictions again. Good.
You “prolifers” sure are cavalier with other people’s lives.
Excuse me? Other people's lives are under their control, not mine. I am vaccinated. I will not be wearing a mask or limiting activities anymore. The risk is exceedingly low.
You can still get the delta variant and pass it along to others that aren't vaccinated. What part of this do you not understand?
You realize I do understand that. I'm vaccinated. That's enough.
I could pass it along with a mask. I could pass it along without a mask. The likelihood of passing it along MAY be slightly lower if I wear a mask, or they wear a mask.
Actually it's much lower and it's not that much of a burden. It's having empathy for your fellow citizen and recognizing that the choices you make affect them. I'm vaccinated too and wear a mask because my kids aren't. Jeez, we're in the middle of a global crisis and all you have to do is wear a mask (and indoors) and dial back mass gatherings. We're not rationing food or going to war and yet, you're too self absorbed to take a few simple steps to help mitigate this crisis.
