The trend? For Who? US Soccer? The same people that run DA? Who approved the game schedule?

Meaningful games? You mean league games?

Sound like a parrot

Truth is the are trying to keep cost down to compete with DA. Truth Is, they can't do it.

Ummm, the spring schedule is purposely limited in order to accommodate HS soccer.

You understand that the trend in soccer is fewer games and more meaningful training right?

Are BRYC teams just unlucky? What’s the deal with the 04s and 05s? Should they be holding open tryouts rather than just invite only?

They have open tryouts now. All you do is email the DOC and they invite you to training. Thats about as open as you can get.

To my mind, those are closed, Perhaps have 2 sessions in may like most others, so that what happens at every other training session doesnt get the chance to happen so early (networking gossip back to your team and coach). Just a thought... Is the BRYC coach still really paying attention and developing your DC while they are trying to evaluate other players for the upcoming season?

what about the the other 2 questions? just unlucky? are there interesting issues with those 2 age groups?

To bad. We could have built something beautiful. Have fun playing ECNL...the new CCL

04s have been a little bit unlucky and a little bit inconsistent. Would not be surprised to see them finish closer to 4th/5th by the end of season.

04s should go to Spirit and build for the future.

Thanks but no thanks. In good hands at BRYC

Too bad. We could have built something beautiful. Enjoy playing CCL level teams in the Carolinas while paying DA prices.

So do you tell the TD why you are leaving or if you are having a problem with the coach? Our coach has really mishandled stuff with our dd...riding her very hard and never any positive feed back at u11. We are not really the type to complain to the TD. I really do not believe the club’s higher ups would do anything? Kind of like going to HR. It’s to the point where dd wants to leave the club or stop playing. I know she loves soccer, but I am of the mind to let her quite. Do kids change teams mid season? As long as she can practice with the top team, she really would not care what team she played on.

I agree with you. Voicing complaints to the TD, even in the most matter of fact way possible, generally does not change things, If you have a good relationship with the TD, or if DD is a superstar, maybe. Switching clubs mid-year happens all the time, but has pro's and con's.

pro's
It can be hard to have good insight into other clubs until you're there. So you might avoid one problem to fall right into a different problem at a new club (they all have some type of dysfunction). Switching mid-year limits your exposure.
If a new club is willing to welcome you mid-year, it might be because they have a need. If this is the case, this can be good for DD.
The familiarity gained by playing a half season will give you a leg up at tryouts for the fall. Like it or not, this is part of the selection process.

con's
Most clubs with yearly fees will not refund your balance so you'll be paying twice for half a season.
You cannot predict the reaction of the former club. A door may close there. The travel soccer scene can be small at times, you'll be surprised how fast word gets around.
DD will have the stigma of "the new player" on her team for a time. The focus will be on her initially as families figure out why the roster increased by one, particularly if roster was already full.

Kids quit and join new teams mid-season all the time. The things to work out are releases if going to a new team in same league or financial stuff.

As far as practicing with the top team, but not playing on that same team, I am not sure a club would really go for that, unless she was special and accordingly given special treatment.

What age does that start? No one will care below what age? U12?

It happened to my kid at the end of his U10 year. Crazy. Just makes you that much more confident in the decision to leave.

We also had a few coaches that stayed in touch with us over the years and have remained mentors for my kid even after we left. They ended up leaving the Club as well.

It's nutso--though. I actually saw a coach from our former club at the tryout and he was texting on his phone--I know reporting back.

We were very professional about the whole thing. Always leave on good terms--but some adults act like children and think everything is about them.

When you are paying thousands of dollars for something--shouldn't you comparison shop, check out the quality, etc??? It should be encouraged.

What’s considered unprofessional?

Bad mouthing the club and/or coach on your way out. Actively recruiting other families from the club to follow your lead and pull their kids. Throwing a fit with the coach and/or TD. Yanking a kid before the season is over leaving the team short. I'm sure there are more, but these are just a few...
