In contrast, those of us who are actually mourning the loss of life and the destruction of lives are just trying to do what we can to pull ourselves together and take it day by day. You disgust me with your pitchfork sharpening. It won't make your lives better or your children safer. Perhaps there are too many people cackling about other peoples' misfortune. I really, really don't think you understand the pain some of us are feeling.

If you want to try to turn this witch hunt around do this: get the hell off of here and go give your kids a hug. They are alive, haven't made any deadly mistakes, and will most likely see tomorrow. Spend your time with them instead of on here doing this.

PP, this is bull. The driver had been cited along with one of the dead kids for alcohol. It is a tragedy but one the parents should have been clued into as a possibility for a while now. It's not a total surprise that they ended up drunk driving and dead.

I think people are angry and disgusted b/c drunk driving is totally preventable.

Exactly. Plus his parents were funding his reckless lifestyle, drinking and driving. Lots of parents are doing this shit.

Same reason they don't report every house that has kids boozing it up.

I think they should, the homeowners that allowed this to happen should rot in jail.

If Montgomery County police isn't corrupted, they'll be going to jail.

The police are expected to report the name of any adult found to be breaking the law. But you see, certain people have certain protections from the law. That's how it works in Potomac, opposite from SE, Washington DC.

So who is the host that has protection from the law? A diplomat? A political figure?

Honestly, it will just be all the guys and girls from marching band and we're going to watch some movies and make popcorn and maybe somebody will make cookies." My sister used to convince my parents that there was a whole separate circle of alcohol-free parties that she was attending every weekend. And I would always say to my mom (I'm three years older): i would find that hard to believe, given that there weren't any such alcohol-free wholesome parties with the band when I was in high school. Of course my sister was lying and of course the parties had alcohol.

This. Why are so many parents so easily fooled?

F*** off. Seriously. You are jealous of children who had no hand in their lots in life. Why? Half of them are dead, one of them will probably go to jail, and you are gloating. That right there is the definition of a bad person. You ARE a bad person.

No hand in their lots in life? Who forced them to drink and drive? Moreover, who gave them the booze and car keys?

Not me and not you. Are you done yet?

The kids didn't choose there upbringing or their socio-economic status. You are jealous of kids and it is very weird.

And I repeat this routine every time they go out. Judging from the # of times I've been called for rides and our Uber charges, I think I've been successful so far. But I'm always mindful that "good" kids make poor decisions all the time. (Adults do too.).

This. It isn't perfect but pretty good.
