The gash created by the vandals just got 50 feet longer.

Soon, they will be longer than his neckties.

So were/are people splashing around in there literally tearing this thing up even with guards there?

Supposedly making a.gash over the size of a football field and somehow nobody noticed nor was it caught on video.

Sure. Totally plausible.

If it really is just very scummy and attracts a lot of mosquitoes, then why bother especially with climate change. Turn it into something else. Not worth the money and trouble. Make it a monument to the Constitution and include a large replica of the Bill of Rights (everything this administration is against).

It was fine before. It was absurd that Trump made a huge deal out of it.

It wasn't fine. It has always leaked massively and can't be filtered and cleaned nearly enough due to its stagnant nature, which is the whole idea behind the design as a mirror. It's the concept that's unworkable in practice. You want running water, otherwise of course it's going to be gross.

This basin should just be scrapped and turned into something else. It's been costing the taxpayer way too much money over the years.

But I agree that Trump directed a giant spotlight on the problem. That's hilarious!

Maybe. Not a scientist but couldn’t it be a fountain at night and then a “mirror” during the day? Without the blue paint and sealant.

Probably a distraction for something else shady they were doing.

... as they reflect on the Trump presidency. It's the perfect metaphor for reflection: the guy who ran for office on "draining the swamp" is building his own, in the middle of DC.
