foreigners are willing to go to podunk red areas and serve the communities there because "real Americans" want to be in cities. Without those foriegners getting AMA grants, most of the rural, red state hospitals would be operating without doctors.
There is wholesale discrimination against Americans, especially white men, and you say we need foreigners? The nerve!
DP. Okay, so rural folks should have to drive an hour to a hospital? Fine.
White MAGA men are NOT studying science. They are eschewing colleges because Trump and co are vilifying them. When Trump tells his base it's patriotic to study math and science, then you will have a case.
Rural white men don’t have access to quality education so of course they don’t pursue academics.
the idea that rural white men are enduring some kind of special suffering and discrimination right now is beyond ludicrous.
OMFG. Rural white men and women are why this country is falling apart. Tons of people have REALLY challenging lives and don't turn to hatred and bigotry. Buh bye.
+1 They feel they are entitled to stay put and just reap all sorts of benefits because they are who they are. It's called study hard and go away to a good school like the rest of us. You don't get special treatment because you're stubborn and entitled.
Yup. Remember when Hillary was trying to create job training in coal mining country. There was one dad who refused to entertain that his kid would learn car computer engineering to take a job in Detroit because he'd have to move away from home in Appalachia. So, he guilted his son until he took a coal mining job like dad.
The "stick your neck out is bad" philosophy in many poor, rural cultures is a huge, unaddressed issue. Immigrants work hard, and will move. A lot of MAGA don't like their kind trying to get ahead.
This. The MAGAs in my family are the ones who didn't take risks and pick up and move. They were told NOT go away to college (oh my god, you'll turn into a hippie!!!) so they stayed close to home and took low-level manual labor-type jobs. They never lived on their own, never paid rent for the own apartment, just lived at home until they got married, then moved-- but not too far away, and only to places that were familiar to their parents.
Now they're all MAGA, angry at everyone but themselves, mocking their "pompous" cousins who did finish college and move out of the old neighborhood for white collar jobs (and their kids all did extremely well in life as a result). That's the little secret with MAGA-- they're scared of change and taking risk and get pissy when they realize others stepped up, took risks, didn't fear change, and reaped rewards for it. It's ultimately about control and making sure your kids don't change and become someone you can no longer control-- and god forbid they do change? "Huh, you think you're better than us, going to that Commie school that turned you into someone else who doesn't go to church. We should never have let you go in the first place, look at you all hoity toity now, just watch, you'll slip and fall and need us and Jesus again. Ha!!"
You don’t seem to understand that not everyone acts the same as your own family. People migrate or not due to many many reasons that you are not able to deduce from the top of your mind. Try to humble yourself because nothing is worse than a person who escaped poverty but then looks down on those who were not so fortunate.
BTW you do seem elitist and so if your old family and friends from before your move are giving you those comments or vibes then they are actually being pretty astute and accurately labeling your attitude as “better than”. It’s obvious.

Maybe our own children don't have as good an education or work ethic.
Did you ever try to think why?
Yes, because spoiled boomers raised horrible, lazy children that bulldoze and helicopter their kids, the education "standards' have been watered down so averyone has a 4.0 applying to college, the internet and video games have degraded exercising the parts of the brain used for critical thinking...I could go on.
Interesting. I’m a boomer. I have one child living overseas in an Asian country, loving it, and working hard. Another is degreed at a double-master’s level and has been promoted numerous times, is happy married, owns their own home, with a baby on the way. The third was laid off by a major tech company, but not before amassing a half a million in investments. My husband was also laid off in Jan by a tech company. Both of them are looking for jobs, but H1Bs are destroying the industry. We have land and money and are close to retirement age anyway. In the meantime, I think one of his apps could do really well in a niche industry and plan to approach companies with a package and see what happens.
I also run a business from home.
I hardly think “lazy” is in our vocabulary.
LOL. So you're anti-H1B in the US, but perfectly fine with your DS working in Asia and taking a job away from a citizen. Never change DCUM!

I want the US to have more nukes and a a stronger military than Russia or China? Does that make me a hypocrite? No, it means I value the well being of my country over others. It’s weird that you would think that would be an odd sentiment to have.

where are the H1B apologists that claim H1B is about lack of skilled labor??
As anyone that has a brain knows, it is about cheap labor. Here is Iowa State, an institution dedicated to training our children, unable to train a business analyst???
and Democrats are suing the federal government to keep H-1B. because as the party of labor, they are dedicated to replacing our own workers with cheap temporary labor. (https://www.cnn.com/2025/12/12/politics/h-1b-visa-fee-lawsuit)
Iowa State University has posted a notice of intent to hire an H-1B Business Systems Analyst
Salary: $86,778
Nobody in Iowa was qualified for this job.
Colleges charge 80k+ a year but yet they want to hire foreign educators. How does this make sense? Why do we accept the high cost of education while our companies crater job opportunities and hand them to foreigners??
This is the crap that got Trump elected
And democrats still push for more h1bs
Wait, you think it is democrats hiring these h1b's?
yes
it is democrats that are suing federal government to keep H1B visas for universities.
A coalition of blue states is suing the federal government over its fee of $100,000 for H-1B Visas, several Democratic attorneys general announced on Friday.

we are broken when the party of labor sues to allow universities to replace US workers with cheap temporary labor. because universities could not find "skilled" labor.
when will democrats wake up and stop being mini me republicans?
this is the cause of Democrats losing
where are the H1B apologists claiming H1B is about skilled labor????????
This morning the University of Pittsburgh posted a notice of intent to hire two new H-1B workers
Software Engineer - $75,130 / year
Senior Data Analyst - $83,929 / year
Nobody in Pennsylvania was qualified for these jobs.

You are literally scapegoating an entire group of people for the problems of our world and basing that on their skin color and class. You are not making any individual distinctions just skin color and class.
That’s exactly the same kind of prejudice that black people and other minorities have been fighting against for centuries. Why would it be ok just because you are targeting white people?
That’s exactly the kind of hypocrisy that contributes to a complete lack of change in our society. Just tribal warfare between the peasants while the billionaires rob us blind.
DP. What you are saying about scapegoating a particular demographic is true but the point you miss is that despite all the MAGA blather, rural Christian white males (and females) have never actually faced anything near the massive institutionalized systemic disparities that others in America have. So it's far from "exactly the same."
Ironically you go on to scapegoat another demographic - the wealthy elites. Not that I disagree, they have indeed done a lot to fuel tribal infighting among the rest of us to distract.
Just pointing out a bit of self-awareness to track.
