Biden has never asked for a blank check. McCarthy is welcome to propose a budget for next year. Biden has been asking him to do that for months now and he won’t do it. Instead he just says he wants to cut 22%, but won’t name a single thing he wants to cut. In fact, whenever the WH accuses him of wanting to cut various big items, like defense, veterans benefits, or law enforcement, he claims that wouldn’t actually get cut.
That is just false. A clean bill is a euphemism for no strings or a blank check. Biden wants to keep spending where it is and for some reason so do list democrats even though everyone can see it isn’t sustainable.
No, it isn't The debt ceiling refers to money that has ALREADY been committed or spent. A budget codifies how future money will be spent. You are conflating the two, and the Bill the GOP has passed is not a budget or even a framework for a budget. It is a list of unachiveable asperations.

This is provably wrong.

Is that correct?
Yes.
It is my understanding that McCarthy has committed to raising the debt ceiling to the level necessary to pay for obligations they the US government has already made. Is that correct?
No, he has not committed to raising the debt ceiling to the level needed to pay for obligations that the US government has already made.
It is my understanding that the President has rejected that because he is ants the debt limit raised to a higher level that would ensure that obligations NOT yet made would be covered. Is that correct?
No, the president wants to debt limit raised to exactly the level that would ensure that obligations ALREADY MADE would be covered.
If I am correct on all counts, then really it isn’t a matter of republicans refusing to raise the debt limit to a level necessary to prevent a default. It’s a matter of Biden wanting it to go even higher.
[b]You are incorrect. It is a matter of Rs refusing to raise the debt limit to a level necessary to prevent default on US obligations.
But this NPR article says otherwise. It says what I said.

What is going then? I keep hearing that McCarthy and lots of republicans have passed a bill that covers the debt. Is that wrong?
