Apologies before I am flamed / prior post used the word “senator” instead of house rep.
Mcarthy needs santos the rep to keep voting for him if a single house rep calls for a new speakership. So House republicans leadership will do nothing and Santos will serve until he is sentence to jail or defeated in an election.
