Why didn’t the Queen give it away after Prince Philip died?
As the eldest son of Prince Phillip, Charles inherited the Duke of Edinburgh title. Now he’s King, he can give it to Edward.
DP. He could have before too. He doesn’t want to. He doesn’t like either of his brothers.

That was awesome. “Give it back then, love.”
Yes! I thought Michael Sheen was absolutely right here, I bet Charles just didn't think about the celebrations being cancelled at all. From the news article: Owain Glyndŵr day and the King's visit are "obviously connected" according to Sheen, who said: "Because of course to choose September 16 to come to Wales having only a short time ago proclaimed that he had created his son William as the new Prince of Wales and to choose this this day September 16 to come here as his first visit as King seems full of meaning." If it had been chosen deliberately, "it seems insensitive to the point of insulting," Sheen said before continuing: "If it was done without realising the significance of the date then one does wonder what being Prince of Wales for so long actually meant if you're not aware of what that day means."
Sheen was also in the news recently for a stirring speech he gave on TV for Wales' football team -- if you missed this earlier you're in for a treat: https://prosoccerwire.usatoday.com/2022/09/10/michael-sheen-wales-world-cup-speech/
Meh, Wales doesn't care enough to make September 16 a national holiday.

You know nothing about his plans, pp. Enjoy your musings.
DP. Charles could have rejected the inheritance of the Edinburgh title and asked his mother to bestow it on his brother. He didn't.

There are decades where no one had the title. Charles may not give it to anyone.
I think the issue is that supposedly Edward wasn’t made a Duke at his wedding on the expectation that he would become Duke of Edinburgh after Phillip died and now Charles is like “nope”.
Who knew Edward had so many fans concerned about his well being!
It's not Edward, it's Sophie. Like the Queen, we like Sophie.
So, if the title was granted immediately, it's never going to happen? Is that the infantile conclusion here?

Lol. And you do? Why wait if he is going to do it when he’s already elevated other people in the same family during the same timeframe?

Now that he’s monarch, he is bound to be more careful with his words and must stay out of politics and government policy in accordance with the traditions of Britain’s constitutional monarchy.
“Charles will have very little freedom of maneuver now that he is King,” said Robert Hazell, an expert on British constitutional affairs at University College London.”
