Seriously? Its not the kids in our home I worry about getting sick, its the adults. Lucky you covid is no big deal.

Sorry, I’m not testing my kids’ colds either.

Do you have your kids wear high-quality masks when they have symptoms and are out in public, including at school?

DP. Why would they? They didn’t before covid. People get sick from time to time. It’s normal.

Because that's what the CDC recommends.

Well, I let them eat raw cookie dough, too, so at least I’m consistent with my belief that the CDC guidelines are ridiculously cautious.

Yeah, I mean who cares about other people, am I right? F-them.

My youngest kid likes sushi, and the older one likes steak medium rare. Both of which go against CDC guidelines. Which tells you a lot about the type of people who work at the CDC.

You can get the youngest vegetarian/vegan sushi. Problem solved. Food is a bit different as you are not hurting anyone else.

That’s what I told my kids. After society sold them out to try and protect people who were on death’s door anyway, I don’t see any reason to care about anyone other than close family and a few friends.

Bet you had the only kids on the block who faked being well. No one would want to be stuck in a house with you.

Nope, my kids have no issue being home and I'd know if they are faking or not. But, then again my kids actually like being stuck with me at home which is why they are still virtual. Yours clearly didn't like being stuck with you at home if you/they were in such a rush to return to school and be in school even when sick. One of mine is sick now and I said no school and they choose to do it anyway.

If they don’t care enough to get vaccinated/boosted and wear good, self-protecting masks, why should I care? And if they do those things, then covid isn't going to be a greater risk than countless other things they face on a daily basis.

So other people should wear masks all the time because you are too selfish to test when you or your kids are sick or to wear a mask when ACTUALLY sick? You are a lovely person.

Lots of people have asymptomatic cases or symptoms sufficiently mild enough to not be noticed as a sign of infection. If you’re terrified of covid, then I don’t see how symptomatic testing and masking would rationally calm your fears.

Who cares? We can't stop them. Decent people who are sick should at least make some effort to avoid transmitting to others, especially if they haven't tested. You don't see how testing to make sure you don't have COVID or your kid doesn't have COVID before sending the kids to school with symptoms would address rational COVID concerns? I'm more terrified of selfish and ignorant people like you than I am of COVID.

Ok. I don’t see how testing or masking would rationally address that fear, either.

Testing and masking when sick is basic human decency, something you apparently lack and are passing down to your kids. Hell, I'm not even saying don't send your kid to school sick or that you must test. I'm saying that at minimum, your kids should wear a mask and try to avoid spreading their sickness.

I’m sure you kept your kids home for every sniffle before covid...

I didn't. I totally admit that. But given our experience with the pandemic, I'm happy that masking when sick will be normalized. I also have tested my kids every time they have been sick since the pandemic began and when we gather indoors with their grandparents.

Yeah, we’re not going to do any of those things.

No more masking and no more testing. I opted my kids out of DCPS testing from the start.

Masking helps prevent transmission. Testing shows transmission and anyone decent stays home.
