The reality is very few women would choose that life today, even Catholic women like my grandmothers don't typically buy into the giant families anymore.

Even if the husband pitches in 50/50. Even if you make decent money.
Kids have become far too expensive to be worth it. College tuition alone is at least $100k per kid. Childcare is over $30k a year for 5 years. There’s zero help. And kids just suck overall - the whining, complaining, the messes, sleep deprivation.
My H pitches in 50/50 and we make decent money, and kids are still just a constant source of stress.
Politicians throw a $2k tax credit and then shrug their shoulders with “it’s not money! We tried giving money!” when it’s that people need like $200k just to survive in the US.
This. Only reason having kids is manageable for me is that I have money to throw at babysitters and outsourcing. This way I can escape the constant noise and chaos and occasionally have some fun.
No way in hell I’d have kids if I didn’t earn a lot of money.
Having kids is just another form of work. Except now it’s optional with birth control.

Aw, sweetie, it doesn't hold a candle to your obvious bitterness and rage. Sorry you wasted your life.

It was so incredibly hard (every day every minute) to have young children while holding down a job, doing about 80% of the house stuff, and carrying 90% of the mental load. I would have loved to have had more then the two children I have. But until men step the f up at home, women will opt out.

You should have chosen better. This is usually more of a problem for lower quality women.
What a terrible thing to say. Also delusional.
Nobody says that you are low quality, though a vast majority of women are low quality compared to their counterparts in other countries. With the cost of living in other countries being so low, lots of guys are opting to become digital nomads, and [i]higher quality women [b]is a big factor in their decision making process.
They're "higher quality" ie better looking than these guys could get in their home countries. Let's be real, I've spent years in expat communities, these guys are not generally pulling "high quality" women. But yes, they can get a younger and cuter barista abroad in a low cost of living area who thinks a guy making 100k is rolling in it. The actual high quality women in these countries aren't interested in some schlubby American "digital nomad."
